Kentucky basketball victories tainted
Now KU Faithful, let's not come down too hard on 'Ol Roy. Honestly, he gave us good times and reestablished KU basketball as a truly elite program over the past 25 years. Everything worked out for the best and, of course, NONE of us would trade Bill for Roy now at any cost.
With that said, Lawson, your posts here remind me of that fateful day (4/5/08) when Hansborough weakly went up for a shot (body spasing, arms flailing) and he got summarily rejected by Cole and Shady (on different attempts). By way of perfect analogy, you're now getting a complete history lesson, courtesy of truehawk/ralster (great research). Lesson for you........don't come in on our board with your weak game or you're going to find your post in the third row!!

Hey Megatroll (aka Lawson), yea, keep telling yourself that about Roy's titles. The first title he got was with Doherty's recruits and news for ya -- Roy isn't regarded as a great XsOs guy, so you draw the obvious conclusion. His second one was legit since he recruited that team.
Like it or not, KU is and always will be UNC's daddy. End of story.
You're welcome, btw, for Dean Smith. Likewise, we should thank UNC for "loaning" Roy to us. In the end, I still like our chances to beat your baby-blue butts to 2000.

Withey gives Jayhawks early lift
Excellent analysis, slowplay and PA. I can't imagine NBA scouts being sold on X at this point. He's still pretty one-dimensional, with the rare exception of his mid-range pull-up yesterday. He's got to get tougher with his drives..........typically, he seems to feel it out going left and flare back out to the perimeter with the slightest contact (which is probably what he experienced in HS/AAU). He's got to keep driving under more contact and learn to feel his way to the bucket or draw a foul by excessive contact (without dropping his shoulder).
It's so nice to see folks on here that serve as the grammar police. That's why I come here really -- to brush up on syntax, use of colloquialisms, etc.

Fanning the flames
NU did not play dirty.........that's really a reach. Henry tried to get in 'Ron's head and it obviously didn't work. Plus we were gassed for the most part from the previous 2 OT games.........NU did UT a big favor yesterday in keeping it close.
I would have loved to have used the bench more but TRob is still not getting it on the defensive end...........he lost an assignment that resulted in an easy NU bunny at one point. Kid will be an absolute stee-ud going forward though. Withey should see the court more though against UT and going forward hopefully.
How about Brady's game?! Kid was absolute nails with several heads-up plays yesterday. His run-out drive and ever-so subtle cut to the basket pulled the NU wing defender to him (maybe Anderson) and gave just enough space to kick it to 'Ron for an open 3 ball that splashed through. That was beautiful basketball.

Collins wills Kansas past Wildcats in OT
cc, you're right on the money. I believe it was Pullen and it was from one of his own teammates. All n all, there was sportsmanship shown on both sides. A tribue to both clubs in such a physical game.

Collins wills Kansas past Wildcats in OT
Props to all ya alls for all the Final Four-level comments and analysis, especially shaw and pahawk1. As should be, WE'VE got the best fan-base nationwide. Anybody catch Dickie V's bromance comments on KY selling-out Game Day? Of course, our venues are different sizes but I think KY's support for hoops has been pretty poor until this year.
I didn't think I'd be saying this but 'Ron is solidifying his place as one of the top guards to ever don the Crimson and Blue. Onions indeed! And you gotsta give Brady his due -- boy knows the game and plays within himself. X has got to show some more fire. Good that he was driving last night though and not shooting the 3.

FINAL: Clutch Collins helps sink KSU, 81-79, in overtime
Good points, Freddy.
In summary, TT gave some very good min (especially at the stripe) but nearly lost the game at the end of reg (a putrid pass to Brady) and when he shoe-balled the pass to 'Ron where he got tied up by Pullen. Exactly right that we need more consistent backup play at PG to win it all.
I wish Coach would have given Withey and TRob more meaningful minutes. He tried to stretch too much out of Cole and the Twins.
All said, though, a simply historic win!!
