As good as billed: QB Dayne Crist living up to lofty expectations

"It's easy to sum it up if you're just talking about practice. We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about practice. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about practice. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game last it's my last but we're talking about practice man. How silly is that?"

Former Jayhawk Brady Morningstar familiar with Jeremy Lin

I couldn't even finish the article after that sentence. It's the occupational equivalent of Bill Self playing Merv 36 minutes per game. Or better yet: what Scott Drew is to basketball coaching, Keegan is to the scribes of the English language.

Numbers don’t lie: Kansas is good

So.... what's that make Roy Williams' tenure at Kansas?

Also, over the past 30 years, 19 teams have won national championships. KU has won two of those, with one of them coming under Self.

Now for the perspective pitch:
Out of over 300 schools, we are one of the 19 that has come out on top over a 30 year span. I'd say we are about on pace with most of the other leading schools.

Now for the speculation:
Thinking big picture/long term, Self will make you eat those words with a couple more 'ships before he is done at KU.

In short, settle down. We are still one of the elite, and under Self we always will be.

No offense taken: Jayhawks futilely founder along

This is bad timimg, considering how things unfolded in Lubbock last night, but look at the vast difference between the second years of Gill and Tuberville. Both programs struggled mightily last season, but Tech is likely bowl-bound this season. The talent level between the teams is similar, I just can't believe that Gill was the choice over Tuberville, who expressed interest in coming to Lawrence.

Josh Selby lectured about maturity by Grizzlies coach and executives

You're right about one thing: Brady Morningstar IS a thug.

Recruiting hot topic for KU coach Bill Self

Let's temper our expectations for next year, too. We're only losing Taylor and possibly Robinson. We've already got our big in Peters, so if we can lock up Ellis that will about do it for 2012.

Selby, Carmelo keeping in touch

If by alum you mean a person who dropped out of school after one year, then what do you call the graduates?

Gary Bedore’s Kansas basketball notebook

Maybe minus the attitude, but not so much the technical issues. Just creates another similarity between 'Kieff and 'Sheed.
