Kansas playing dodgeball
Tom,
Before we schedule the crucifixion, why don't we find out what really happened. Mark Mangino didn't seem to think it was that big of a deal when interviewed about the incident. These are young boys, for the most part. Why would we be shocked when the act like college aged kids.

Recruits won’t work miracles
Lance Stephenson will be an attituded cancer to any team. We should tell him now that KU is not interested. This is a quote from an article written by Jonathan Givony, President of Draftexpress.com, that pretty much sums Stephenson up:
"Stephenson’s body language is the most questionable part of his game. He pouts and complains constantly on the court, at the refs, the coaches, opposing players, and often his own teammates. Nothing ever seems to be his fault, not his terrible passes that usually lead to turnovers, his poor shot-selection, his pedestrian defense, or his uncoachable nature. At one point he looked close to exchanging blows with a fellow teammate at the U-18 tryouts who dared dishing off a hard foul, which made his removal from the team (which went on to lose to Argentina in the Finals) one of the least surprising moments of the week."

Stephenson looks like a shady character
We don't need this guy. It sounds like he wouldn't even make from the first practice to the first game before Coach Self told him to pack his bags.

Was ESPN's Doug Gottlieb out of line when he said Cookie Miller was "acting like a punk" against KU?
Cookie acted like a gangster playing on concrete.

Self praises freshman Thomas’ attitude
Jaybate,You should have your own column. You are absolutely correct on the need for a strong four man. I think that the Morris brothers will mature into force on the court in a year or two when they mature and gain some body mass. But, they are really hard to watch now. I have had season tickets for the last 20 years. Does anyone remember Greg Ostertag or Greg Drieling? They were terrible as freshmen. Darnell Jackson wasn't a dominating force as freshman, but he matured into a beast inside the paint. Be patient Jayhawks. We will win another National Championship trophy next season if the fans and the players are patient.

Gary Bedore’s KU basketball notebook
For the enjoyment of Jayhawk fans everywhere, I wanted to post this quote from Sundays edition of the Memphis Commercial Appeal."Allen Fieldhouse is already one the nation’s loudest arenas and the atmosphere was more like a Metallica concert than a college basketball game for the first meeting between these two powerhouses."“The building was juiced,” Self said. “That’s what Allen Fieldhouse is supposed to feel like.”- Memphis Commercial Appeal, Sunday, January 4, 2008Rock Chalk!

Don’t forget Mason
Glenn was a great guy but not a great coach on the field. I still haven't forgiven him for blowing a lead and the game against k-state in manhattan by going three and out by running three pass plays in 16 seconds with 2 and a half minutes left in game. K-state scored and beat us . . . again. Oh yeah, and running a win or loose play fake on a two point conversion to beat Nebraska for the first time in 30+ years and leaving the only player on the teamv who could have pulled in the Nebraska defense and opened up our receivers on the bench. The player was, of course, June Henley who had already rushed for a couple hundred yards that day. We lost by one point.

Keegan: Defense, not QB, to blame
"we really don't want to man up with a couple of younger kids in the secondary. They're not ready for that."What?!? They aren't ready to run the zone. Which is worse, to lose running a bad zone or to lose learning to play man to man. They still have to learn. This was a great college football game. And to lose only by three is not something to be ashamed of. But i have to agree with areyouserious. Our failure to adjust the pass coverage cost us this game. And our failure to play Quigley in the first half did not help.

Thrills, spilled
He has rushed over twice as many yards as any other running back with only two more carries. His yards per carry is almost three times that of any of the other running backs. Why isn't Quigley starting? And even if he doesn't start, why didn't he get any carries in the first half. PLAY QUIGLEY.On another topic, which is worse getting beat man to man or having other teams brutalize our zone pass defense. Rock Chalk
