Paul Pierce indeed! He was the superstar last night. Some related him to Muhammud Ali in Zaire coming back from that injury. James Brown jumping back up after the cape has been thrown on him also came to mind. It's awesome to see the former Jayhawk as the star of the NBA finals. Go Celtics!

Thanks jahoward77 for the transcript and to most of the posters for keeping politics out of this. This was a real honor for the 'Hawks!

On President Bush welcomes Jayhawks to the White House

I certainly have opinions about our leader, but i appreciate all the posts about leaving politics out of this. Sports and KU basketball are major reasons I can still talk to my father. If we start talking politics, forget it. While I think there are merits to folks to having opinions on local, national, and global issues (which in my experience as a Kansan there was never a shortage of educated opinionated folks), there are also merits to having non-political things to follow such as sports, weather, music and the like.
The president's the president, for better or for worse, and I'm very proud of the team to have this opportunity.
I deal with enough strife and conflict in my day-to-day affairs, and I'm thankful for this website and the Jayhawks to take to a break from it all on occasion. Congratulations Jayhawks!

Thanks LJW for all of the off-season coverage. KU news big or small gives me a mental health break from my workday. Also, much happens, such as recruiting, during the off-season. I like having information on the incoming players before actually seeing them play. I'm an addict.

I've been a fan pretty much since the day I was born, in 1970. My parents met at KU and I have followed KU hoops since as long as I remember. From my perspective, the Jayhawks have come a long way from the days of Ted Owens. I remember cheering wildly for Larry Brown, encouraged by Roy Williams excellence, and now beyond belief at Bill Self's success. I thought it was great that we prevailed in the one final four with all number one seeds. I loved seeing coverage of Larry Brown at the Final Four and appreciated Roy with the Jayhawk on his shirt during the championship. I believe Bill Self has profound respect for the tradition that he is part of. I think he sees what a lot us see right now...things are only getting better at this great, historical institution. Rock Chalk Jayhawk! 2008 National Champions!!!

Thank you, Lew for your leadership. I personally feel more confident than ever as a Jayhawk fan with you at the helm.

I think a moment of zen is in order. We should take Self at his word that he's not a candidate and OSU should look elsewhere. Let's focus on carolina! Go KU!

great relief...Sasha was the man...our most consistent player of the night! great team defense and rebounding! (while our offense was not as great-come on Darrell!) I do think Saturday will be different and that unc should be worried...not real pretty tonight but we held on...I'm sure that Rush (and Darrell) will come out fired up. Rock Chalk Jayhalk!

On Next up: UNC - KU downs Davidson, returns to Final Four a 59-57 winner

I like the nervousness. First things first. Don't take Davidson for granted...they've already picked a few pockets this year. Play with intensity and concentrate on UNC after taking care of business tomorrow. I know it's unrealistic, but I'm hoping that the KU players didn't watch the games today. Call me nervous, but I think it could actually be the difference in us winning vs. overlooking a worthy opponent. Go Jayhawks!

1) CBS does suck. I've followed KU from western Colo all year thanks to ESPN/Full Court. They generally will play games in their entirety, no matter how bad the blowout, which is important being a Jayhawk fan who likes to see the team step on the accelerator. I would love it if ABC could be the master channel to provide general coverage and the ESPN channels to provide specific games. It's frustrating enjoying an entire season to have it build up to the tourney and to have piss-poor coverage.
2) I think it's a good sign that KU is flying a bit under-the-radar at the moment, with commentators talking more of other teams like carolina. The 'Hawks need to stay focused and not be distracted. I think they have a good chance against 'nova, but they need to come out with focus and intensity.
Rock Chalk!
