Chalmers signs deal with Heat

Cavs.com Beat Writer, Joe Gabriele barely mentions Darnell in his July 9 articles but does say that GM Ferry will get a chance to see Darnell and first round draft choice working in the low post together starting Monday in their summer league games. Gabriele only mentions Simien and where he has played which is no more than what he says about Billy Thomas.Maybe the biggest competition for Darnell for that spot will be Robert (Tractor) Traylor. Remember him? He has been out of the League for three years and is trying to come back.Garbriele is talking about next week's games and Jackson has already made the team, it seems. That is great. He just has too much to offer pros not to have made it big in spite of being drafted so low. I think that LeBron is going to love D Block and what he can do for LeBron's game.

Court documents: Collins lawsuit was not properly served because of address error

It seems to me that a lawyer has beat our system once again. Also, if that group of papers were hand delivered someone managed not to tell the truth when they may not have gone to the right address. It looks like another one bites the dust and I don't think it will be Collins.

Commentary: Some picks may have been a little Rush-ed

I have been wondering about Brandon as the second coming of Miller. I think he can do that job as well as anyone could and certainly hope he gets an opportunity to play significant minutes next year. Kevin Pritchard said he was NBA ready and drafted him but I guess not for his team. I will really miss seeing Brandon play as a Jayhawk next year.

Kaun signs with team in Russia

I sure got tired of reading all that left handed reasoning on this, a sports spot, but I will invite all you who fear that the Patiot Act has taken away all your freedoms to get to the forum I frequent for political discussion. Get on there and find all the people who agree with you in your Bush hating ways and some of us will have fun with you.http://www.kestrelsworld.comSince this is a sports board lets think about Sasha Kaun as a Jayhawk. I don't recall any of the players being as excited with that win as Sasha was. He was roaring and acting like an uncaged wild animal and I was so happy to see him like that. He played like that kind of animal in the tournament and everybody should be very happy with what he contributed. The kid is going to make big money in Russia and be guaranteed of a spot to play and that is more than he would have got here. I agree with all that think he did the right thing. I am sure he would have been drafted and spent some time knocking around the league and maybe never played at all. This gives him a chance to become the player we all know he can become and earn a spot in the League which he will certainly do. Anybody notice this year that when he moved offensively to the left hand that he normally scored and often didn't score with the right hand. That indicates to me that he has worked very hard on that hand and the day will come when he will be a threat with either hand.Lets save this spot for sports discussion and leave the politics where they belong, somewhere else.

Self debates NBA's top draft picks

It appears that Chad Ford and Kevin Pritchard may see Rush the same way. Pritchard says that Rush is ready to help an NBA team right now as a spot up shooter, and as a defender of 2 or 3 players and maybe even a point. Ford lists Rush as #13 by Portland. Maybe Pritchard is only a fan and ex-player for KU and then maybe he really does like what he saw when Rush worked out for him. I don't think Pritchard was talking from being a supporter of his alma mater. Portland is looking to improve as much as possible and Rush just may be the man to push them along because of his talents.

Civil suit hits Collins for $75K

Can you guys say "Duke lacrosse"?It is best to let the thing run its course as right now people tend not to think rationally. However, I thought about those Duke kids immediately when I saw this one.I don't think that Collins is that kind but I don't know him personally. I do think that this may well take the team down to one experienced player other than walkons.

5 seniors share awards spotlight

If Arthur took that writer's advice about next year he could pair with Aldrich and with the 6'10 European I read about yesterday and the 6'10 Morris kid look at what could conceivably happen next year. I think that the picture is very bright for the next year or two with just what we seem to have. All that is needed is for the new players to buy in to Self's system early so it can be continued with Arthur taking a bit more of the scoring load on his shoulders.Rock Chalk, Jayhawk as Wilt finally said.

Randall recalls parade in '88

"If Sherron can do it, I can do it". What more fitting words for those boys in that part of Chicago could be spoken? I remember the story that the LJW had last year about Collins and where he actually came from. It was his athletic, and especially basketball, that kept him alive in that area of the city, according to the uncle that has been his father figure. Collins isn't my favorite player on this year's team but I surely can't avoid the contribution he made. His steal and save followed by his three point shot from the corner was maybe just about as important to the outcome as Mario's was. That little sequence was such a poignant example of this team's team play as either Chalmers or Robinson could have tried to throw something up and get it blocked but the Collins to Chalmers, to Robinson, back to Collins for an open shot was so "like" this team and it worked, again.

Keegan: Realistic future awaits

KU, I think that Rush and Arthur must go since their scholarships have been given to replacements. Jamison would find a cupboard bare of scholarships. What would happen if Rush and Arthur wanted to come back and try for a repeat? Their scholarships have already been given to somebody and Self would have to decide what to do. I think I would allow some freshman to go somewhere else in a situation like that. I am sure glad that I don't have to worry about it like Self is surely thinkin about now.

Commentary: Memphis had it, but Kansas took it

fansincewilt, you said "they believed in one another. " This was so obvious all year the way they played. I don't know whether any of them voiced this belief in public but when Jackson said that Self told them that they had to believe it appears to me that he told them just what they needed to hear at that time, corny or not. At a time like that they had to hang their hats on something and that seems to me to be the single best thing they could have heard. They played that overtime just like that and as one Philadelphia writer said, they acted like they were socialists in that they took turns scoring in the overtime with the two bigs taking the first turns. That was the best finish I have ever seen and their belief in their "team" concept carried them to the shoa by Mario.
