Mayer: Gold may bless U.S. again
I love how unquestioned loyalty to your country is perceived as being old fashioned. If someone is putting on the stars and stripes I want them to win, PERIOD. Sorry there are bitter Jayhawk fans who are jealous of what capitalism has provided NBA players.

Video room marvels minds at complex
Why are we hiring a guy who played baseball in college to be a grad assistant for the football team?

Keegan: Next KU returner? Mmm :
Jake Sharp, espescially if we rotate the backfield. We need to get the ball in this kids hands in the open field more often.

DLI likely won't pay $6,400 bill
Lew, Maybe we should have had the parade in KC Mo.? On a serious note, KUAC could have asked the parade be another day, my understanding is the city was pretty much working on KUAC's schedule, it is ridiculous to ask the city to pay for this.

Kaun, others honored
Congrats jayhawks. But, why is this event being held in Missouri. We are the KANSAS Jayhawks. If you want to go to KC, find a nice hotel in our state. Nonetheless, glad to see our athletes were recognized.

Boycott of KU-MU game urged
Its no about moving "a game" to KC, its about moving "this game", and the possibility of setting a precedent to move other important KU games to KC. I support their boycott. I won't go to the game at Arrowhead, instead I will go to a bar in Lawrence and cheer on my Jayhawks. The bottom line is this is about money (in exchange for a game that most fans care the most to be in Lawrence) and may cost us a chance to win the big 12 north(although I hope I am wrong).
Listen, if you don't agree with the move, and there are sound and reasonable grounds that exist to oppose the move, then this is one way you show your opposition. This AD doesn't care about letters or calls in my opinoin.
It does not make you a bad fan, it makes you a bad fan and supporter of the University if you sincerely believe the University has made a terrible decision and your only action is putting up posts on websites. This Perkins Administration will be here for X amount of years and then be gone, however this decision will not leave with them, that stays. If we just follow like lemmings with the decisions of the AD, then don't bitch when your telling your kids/grandkids how you remember back when KU used to play MU at eachothers campus, because if this Arrowhead thing is not oppossed it WILL not change and KU will begin having more BIG (football and basketball) games that traditionally were played in Lawrence to be moved to KC.

Football complex showing progress
It has nothing to do with being scared. This a failure in maximizing our opportunities to have our team play in front of the most fans for their games. Homecoming is going to have a great crowd no matter what opponent we play and Nebraska will almost certainly be a sellout. The KU geniuses (athletic dept.) decided to combine these so now we'll have our 2 biggest "draws" for home college football weekends this year on the same day. IMOP this is both stupid from a financial standpoint and in giving KU football an opportunity to play before the most fans. As well as taking from the fans, which with this schedule is already pretty bare of intriguing matchups, the opportunity to experience the exceptional football atmosphere that is present on homecoming weekend and, recently, now when Nebraska comes to town (this game could be for the North crown). Really, this year the only home game to get excited about is Nebraska.

Self adds Buford as walk-on for 2007-08
It would be a real shame if this resulted in Witherspoon (a Kansas kid) getting booted off the roster. Also, FYI, preferred walk-on means that they don't have to engage in the try-out process that some walk-ons had to endure to become part of the team, they are just on the team, and consequently, if a basketball sholarship becomes available a non-scholarship walk-on would get it, at the coach's discretion among all walk-ons.

Mayer: Self has same rep as Owens
Coach Self is definately not a great coach, IMO not really a good coach (please name a game where he outcoached someone), hopefully, like our team he grows from some of our recent disappointments (tournament, inferior opponents) and proves me totally wrong.
I personally feel his talent compensates for his coaching shortcomings and so far he continues to do enough to appease the KU faithful, but his honeymoon is coming to an end and people want results and are really looking at how our team moves (or stands around) on offense, and some other decisions that can reasonably be questioned (zone defense, not pressing in certain situations).
I hope/expect the kind of domination we had in the 90's, which happened with arguably less talent and a tougher conference schedule. Maybe this isn't fair, but it comes with the job, being pretty good, or saying "a lot of teams would be happy with 16-3" is not the kind of program I think KU is, or should be appeased in being, save those accolades for our football team.
I agree he needs some new assistant coaches to replace Roberts, it appears the assistants havent been getting the job done since his departure (FYI Manning is not an assistant coach).
I think Self seems like a nice guy, and the kind of person that I would want as our coach but I need some substance and some proof he is in fact a great coach, which is the kind of coach a great basketball program must have.

Border War moving to Arrowhead for 2007 and 2008
Really disappointed in my university, way to remove our only guaranteed (no matter how the season goes) big home game next year. I forget sometimes that some folks in the administration ( not kansans) belive we are the Kansas (City) Jayhawks.
