Aldrich has interests outside of hoops

It's funny how Hansbrough is still getting all this preseason hype this year, and nowhere in any of those stories do they mention how he was absolutely OWNED by Aldrich.

I think if he can stay out of foul trouble, Aldrich is going to be one of the better bigs we've had in a while. I'm really looking forward to this year.

Lawrence listed No. 15

Okay, Phoenix? Really? I live in Phoenix, and except for the Suns, this city could care less about any of its franchises. I've been to games for each of our "pro" teams, and except for the Suns, the games are never sold out unless a big name team is playing them here (e.g. when the Steelers play the Cardinals or the Cubs or BoSox play the Diamondbacks). I'll buy some of the other cities being higher than Larry, but not Phoenix.

Chalmers to stay in NBA Draft, forego senior season at KU

Thanks for the shot, and thanks for three great years in a Jayhawk uni. Good luck at the next level.

Chalmers likely staying in draft

As a 'Hawks fan, I really want Mario to stay... but as a resident of Phoenix and a Suns fan, I would love to see him come in here and back up Steve Nash for a couple of years before taking over the team himself.

Whatever you choose, Mario, thank you for coming to KU and best of luck.

The Keegan Ratings: The legend of Mario

How about a starting backcourt tandem of Mario and Sherron next year? No doubt the best in the country... and playing with Mario full time should calm Sherron down and get him to stop making some of the dumb mistakes. And, oh yeah, they would both have to be early favorites for all of the player of the year honors for next year.

HCBS on the senior class: "Not the best players, not scored the most points, but gave us a chance to win every night."

SOOO true!!!

Congratulations seniors.... you guys personified class and hard work. And the Jayhawk faithful will always love and remember you.

The Greene Room Live: Day Five in San Antonio

You've got to think there's more to Self's (potential) decision than just money.... I mean, how much MORE rich can you get?

Some things I've heard (don't know if they're true):

1. His wife was a cheerleader at OSU, but she's originally from KC. And, from what I understand, most of her family still lives there... speaking as a guy who tried to move his wife away from her family, her opinion on the matter could make a big difference.

2. He's still really good friends with the Suttons; talks to Sean a lot; and knew that Eddie wanted Sean to take over that program. If that's the case, he may not be real happy with OSU about the way they treated Sean (deserved or not).

I know it's hard to think positive about all of this after Roy... but, c'mon, at least he left for North Carolina... Do you really leave KU for OSU? Even if it is your alma mater?

Six Jayhawks earn postseason honors from Big 12, five from AP

"Preseason hype shouldn't determine post-season awards."

Absolutely, COJHawk....

unfortunately, though, it's exactly what happens.

Yeah, cincy, I wondered about that shot as well, but never really heard anything about it again the rest of the day (I didn't catch the entire Dook-UNC game, so I missed Dick V's comment), so I figured it was a legal shot. If it wasn't, it was just another case of the ref's missing late, game-changing calls this season. Maybe my memory is a little off, but I can't recall another year where the refs have blown so many important calls across the NCAA.

Extra Minutes: Kansas 109, Texas Tech 51

I have to agree with jaybate about both Pat and Bob Knight. Sure, Bob Knight had a great graduation rate, and instilled discipline and blah, blah, blah, whatever else the Knight apologists say about him. But, over the past several decades, there hasn't been a more classless person in college basketball than Bobby Knight (and, I realize that's a pretty high bar with the likes of Dave Bliss and Kelvin Sampson in that group). The most classless move yet was quitting on this Tech team midway through the season like he did. Of course this team is going to look a little lost at times.... but don't call out their character on national TV. I don't know what game Pat was watching; but it couldn't have been the same one I was watching, because the Tech players didn't take the night off, and they played with plenty of heart.... they just ran into a juggernaut last night. Bob Knight's best Indiana team couldn't have beat KU last night.

So, pat, stop whining, and coach... try to prove that the apple DOES fall far from the tree.
