New facility electric

Good points on the salaries. I would add this: KU athletics generated $86 million in revenue in 07-08, 11th best in the nation. The overwhelming majority of that is from football and MEN'S basketball, with their combined 2 head coaches and 12 assistants. If you can show me that the HUNDREDS of professors were responsible for generating a proportionate amount where they each deserve to be paid like a football/MEN'S basketball coach, I'll listen to their gripes. Until then, in the words of Jim Calhoun, "Just shut up."

Little to red-shirt this season, Self says

No need to be upset with Roy. Dean and Bill G. were his mentors. Matt was his disciple. Recruiting is a negative business--I can understand why he chose not to go up against those guys. By the same token, he has no such relationship with Bill Self. And he has recruiting ties in Iowa. I don't see why he shouldn't use those.

Joe-College.com ordered to pay Kansas Athletics more than $660,000

code_2008, the only proof that exists is that a jury said so. Right or wrong, that's the law.

Kansas playing dodgeball

Right, Keegan. Coach Self doesn't have the guts to send out suspensions and dismissals when he feels they are appropriate.

KU football game against Southern Miss a sellout

They oversell the student section and family zone. They're bleachers, so you have a finite amount of numbers painted on the bleachers (the capacity number), but you can get more hineys on the seats than there are painted numbers.

They also oversell the student section for basketball, and God knows what the real attendance is for every game. They just always report 16,300, since that's the fire code number.

Winning North realistic for KU football

KU was a 3.5-point underdog at South Florida. In what way, then, is a 3-point loss there a "crummy upset?" I won money on KU that day, even in a loss.

NBA rebounding stats a little misleading

Matt,

The second-best Jayhawk in the category of NBA rebounding is Bill Bridges. Bill was maybe a smidge over 6'5", but averaged 11.94 per game for his career, 17th-best all-time in the league. His total rebounds were 11,054, good for 26th all-time.

NBA rebounding stats a little misleading

Rebounding effort in the NBA begins and ends with Wilt and Russell. 22.9 and 22.5 per game for their careers, respectively. You have to go down more than 6 boards per game before you get to the #3 guy. With Wilt and Bill, you had a case of two guys that just flat out wanted the rebound more than anyone else. And more than that, they detested the thought that the other guy was going to get more than he was.

I'm sure there have been other guys that have put out reasonable amounts of "effort." But in the history of the NBA, there have been precisely 12 seasons where it took 20 or more boards per game to win the rebounding title, and EVERY ONE OF THEM have either Wilt or Bill as the winner.

KU adds four-star recruit McDougald to signing class

It's true that he was an Ohio State commit, but you're gonna learn about it sooner or later. Might as well learn it now. It's NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL, but you should know before your Mizzou friends tell you.Ohio State pulled his scholarship when he got suspended for 3 games this season. You can find out for yourself why he was suspended. It doesn't bother me at all. We were in the right place to get him. And what he did to get suspended wasn't that bad, in my eyes. I'll ALWAYS give a kid a second chance.

KU adds four-star recruit McDougald to signing class

This is Mangino's first ever Rivals 250 signee. He's had 4-star recruits before, but none that cracked the Rivals 250.That and $7.50 will get you a nice cappuccino. But on paper, he's Mark's best recruit ever.
