Return to the Sooner state
I hope Harris, Laptad and Holt are totally fired up for this game and it spreads to the rest of the defense. We need tight coverage, a pass rush and solid tackling. If the defense brings it we can win.

Mangino: OU will be all business
Kendrick Harper is our most aggressive DB in pass coverage. He looked rusty vs. ISU, but did better against CU. If he's back to 100% and maybe gets a pick or two, that could be the difference in this game. We need to win the turnover battle. That's what got Okie State the win against Missouri -- 3 picks on Daniel.

Kansas football notebook
"Following Saturday's game, Meier brushed off multiple questions about his health, opting instead to talk generally about the success of the team's offense against the Buffaloes." Isn't the plural of "buffalo" "buffalo"?

KU vs. USF: Head to head
Their punt and kickoff coverage has been bad. We could have good field position on every posession. That in itself can win an otherwise close game.

Keegan: Don't freak out yet
"To add to that I wonder if we have lost out on a recruit b/c of the students yelling that." If so the kid is a weenie and we don't want him.

Keegan: Defense rock-solid in debut
Sparky was late on several throws, including the one where Briscoe got blasted and fumbled. He must have been hung over.

Happy-go-Stuckey
Hope Darrell follows Clint Bowen's lead and returns to coach at KU when he's done playing.

KU back leaving program
"Without reading a word in this article, I'm going to say..." "Without knowing a damn thing about it, I'm going to open my mouth and make an ass of myself."

Mayer: Rookies have lot to prove
Most college athletes probably realize their chances of going pro are slim. They are there to play college ball, get an education and move on with a normal life. But the occasional superstars like Arthur or Michael Beasley are pro prospects before they ever set foot on a college campus. They aren't "hired", but there is a mutual understanding and unwritten agreement of what they are there for: to prep themselves for a pro career, win games and bring in money for the program, and help secure a fat multi-million dollar contract for the coach. Beasley wasn't drawn to K-State for the crop science program, and Arthur didn't come to KU for the J school.

No place like Memorial Stadium
Tues. Aug. 4th:Tampa: 92 degreesLawrence: 101"a U.S.F. unit that defeated Auburn, North Carolina, and West Virginia en route to a second straight nine-win season last fall"- West Virginia win was by 8. WV also lost to Pitt (a 5-7 team)- North Carolina was (4-8)- Auburn win was by 3 in OT. And Auburn was not very good (8-4, and all their wins were squeakers). - I'm impressed with USF's 9 wins, but Kansas had 3 more than that.
