Opinion: 7-footer Embiid rare talent among Kansas big men

There was the LB from Louisville who graduated at age 19 and was with the Texans. I don't know where he is now.

Houston area has a lot of Nigerian kids, some of them are great athletes. It seems like you see more and more in the news. Texas had a Nigerian bb player from the area. His younger sister was the top bb recruit nationwide in the mid 2000s, I believe.

Jayhawks survive tougher, condensed Boot Camp

As someone who was at the 2003 Championship game (in the Superdome) and the 2008 Championship, hopefully you will get to go another one where we win! THAT is the lifelong dream! The drive back from NO to Houston was pretty long. Ultimately glad I got to see it.

There always seem to be tickets available for the championship game. Half are disappointed fans who want to lose their ticket and go home!

Opinion: Among talented newcomers, Joel Embiid is KU's X factor

As we know, the NBA drafts on potential. Everyone agrees his potential is high.

Opinion: Among talented newcomers, Joel Embiid is KU's X factor

I have seen 4/5 "Old", all "Old School," and five of the later... all great movies!

Enemy at the Gates was fantastic - good story line and based on a true story! I believe the part where he said, "If you don't have a gun, follow the guy with the gun. If he gets killed, pick up the gun and start shooting!" is pretty close to reality.

Most of all, it shows just how fierce and determined the Russians were. They would not accept defeat, despite the massive losses. Fifty percent of all 40M deaths in WWII were Russians.

I have heard people from Vietnam say that ending sniper scene in "Full Metal Jacket" was played out over and over. Another group that simply would not be defeated at any cost.

Funny that we share so much with foreign enemies - neither would tolerate foreign invaders or foreign rule!

Comeback kids: A look at the top rallies in the Bill Self era

Texas fans can be big jerks. I've had people say things and throw things. These are adults, not students.

Summer Q&A: Is '08 KU better than '12 Kentucky? And who had the best season in the Bill Self era?

I will give 2012 KY credit for having the most future NBA players of any team I can remember.

But yes, 2008 KU had more experience and accomplished more than any KU team in history. They were better.

Andrew Wiggins named Gatorade male high school athlete of the year

Perhaps like Danny Manning in that respect. When Manning was Biggest Man On Campus, you would never know it. Very polite and pleasant always, a true gentleman.

Lakers give Josh Selby a shot

There are plenty of cases of young men getting a lot of money suddenly and ruining their lives, true. Still, these opportunities can be fleeting. A blown out knee or car accident can end things before they ever get started. I have a hard time convincing myself I would take that risk if I were in their shoes. As fans, we want them to stay, which is in OUR best interests. Some would certainly leave as better players if they stayed four years. You would think keeping a millions/year job would be the biggest incentive of all to improve.

Former KU guard Rio Adams transfers to Ohio

He had the shortest career of anyone one actually on the team that I can recall. Zach Peters wasn't much longer. Vince Askew was in Lawrence in summer '87 only long enough to cause some NCAA trouble, never enrolled at KU. I think Braeden Anderson did show up in Lawrence 2 years ago, but was ruled ineligible. If I recall, he was not allowed to attend class.

On 'stressful' night, Jeff Withey relieved to be taken by Portland with 39th pick

If I recall, Greg Dreiling didn't go until the second round. A bigger guy than Withey, but he had about a 14 year career.
