"I could reel off 10 or so names of Jayhawks who think Darrell and Mario have more dues to pay in the deportment department before they’re fully reinstated in the chapter house."

Too bad, but I really don't care. If they don't do anything/don't get caught when they are at KU, who cares? They are on their own now, and if I were Self, I would just quit responding to inquiries about them. Gotta grow up sometime.

Keegan contradicts himself. No respect he says--then points out the hits from graduation and the much tougher schedule. Add to that the fact that KU has never gone bowling back-to-back years, even with the relatively ease of getting to a bowl in a major conference, and the oddsmakers have it right, or at least have a very reasonable basis for their expectations.
Using Keegan's rankings of KU's opponents, KU would have to beat Tech at home, South Florida at their place, and Nebraska at Lincoln to get to 8 wins. A good football team might not be able to do that...KU will have to be very good to pull it off. And KSU and Colorado are very much wild cards, but apparently Keegan thinks they are in the bag.
KU might well exceed the Vegas expectations. But they will have to prove it on the field. Basketball school ? Absolutely. KU's 2007 football season a fluke? No. KU winning 8 games this year? Unlikely.

KGPhoto: I have not forgotten Sherron's miraculous play. I also have not forgotten that this happens every year with him. The problem is this year he isn't going to be the spark plug off the bench. He will be a starter, and needs to be a leader. There is not a line on the NCAA bracket reserved for KU, despite what the KSU fans say. This is the toughest schedule Self has set up, and they are the "fattest" targets they have ever been.

I don't really care about the incident itself. It does appear to be typical college freshman drunken stupidity. But no matter what the NCAA or KU tells you, these aren't normal freshman. These are or will become the most recognizable students on campus, and starting in November they will be defending national champions, with almost every game televised, playing one of the toughest schedules in recent memory. You think teams wanted to beat KU before? Just wait. And they won't care a bit that only two players of note return from the 2008 team. Do you think KU fans cared that its first victory over Nebraska in nearly 40 years came over one of the worst Nebraska teams in 40 years? Strap it on guys.

Nutflush21: Not really, as Tyler Hansbrough will find out. Two different games. That is why so much hype over how high a player goes in the draft can be distracting. Yes, it takes NBA talent to win the NC, but the college game should stand on its own. And Wayne Simien is one of the all-time great KU players, no matter what happens in the "league".
