Off the unbeaten path

kuhawkman - what sports do you support at KU besides men's basketball and football? You say we should support football because it 'bankrolls' basketball, and from that you conclude that we should support all KU athletics. That doesn't make sense. It shouldn't matter if football brings in more money - what I hear you really saying is that KU men's basketball is the only one you really care about.

Which KU men's basketball team is more talented?

I don't think it's a flawed comparison, it's definitely something worth comparing. I am sure that everyone at sometime or another has thought to themselves, "How does this incoming team compare to the 2008 champions?"

I think that the incoming team has more talent. Xavier is going to come in and have a bigger impact than Rush had, we have great point guards and great forwards, a couple of great centers, how can you say that this team is not more talented than the team in 07-08?

Stephenson undecided

I'm sure KU would be happy to donate a facial to MU next year.

Collins, Morningstar sit at 1-2 in Keegan Ratings

Yeah KU played great offensively except for a couple of minutes in the first half. KU started to dominate when they finally started to play defense, which you have got to attribute to the whole team, not just Brady. Sherron and Tyshawn definitely stepped up and led us this game.

Aggressive Collins takes No. 1 post

I don't think that the keegan ratings should be linear. They should be exponential, because I think that the people atop the rankings are generally much more important than those at the bottom. Even the top two, here they only differ by one point, but what about a game when there is only one player that stands out? It still only differs by one point. That creates a flaw in the naive simplicity of these ratings. Maybe they shouldn't even be exponential, maybe they should be based on the actual stats from the game. But, then I guess the reason that I read these after every game is because they are based on another person's opinion, and I want to compare your opinion to my opinion. So making an algorithim that computerizes these rankings would take all the fun out of it. So keep everything the same. I like it Keegan.

Cookie says he's ready for KU fans

It would be kind of cool if every time Blake Griffin got the ball for OU the whole crowd became dead silent. That might mess with him.

Lower women's standards

Walkdog262 - my comment is not the one going into the paper. He corrected the mistake on the website, which is all I could ask for. I really could care less, though.

I was not scanning newspaper articles for mistakes. Instead I was trying to scan this one for a consistent point, and did not find one.

First, he says there should have been more fans at the game because we were playing against a great team. Then he says that the team which we were playing had a big fan base based on their success. Finally, he says that women's basketball should lower the hoops. Does he mean that Kansas women's basketball (and other average programs) should lower the hoops to spark interest in women's basketball in Lawrence, or women's basketball in general should do so. If he means the latter, then maybe we should lower standards for men's basketball as well, because teams like Haskell do not receive anywhere near the support that Kansas does.

There might be other reasons to lower the goals in women's college basketball. I think he strikes a point when he compares the physical abilities of men and women and concludes that rules could be changed for that reason alone. However, the fact that the fan base is much lower in women's college basketball compared to men's is a problem that will not be relieved by lowering the standards for women. Maybe raising the budget and advertising more is a better idea.

Maybe he should add more typos to distract from the contemtuous nature of his article.
