What if KU stuns Texas?

No you don't know how bad it can get...I was there for every game of the Bob Valesente era. TA is coach of the year compared to THAT train wreck.

But...regardless...the damage has been done. Recruits aren't going to come here and play for Mangino anyway. I'd rather they just get it over with now so we can move on. I hope Lew knows what he's doing. But if we don't improve under who ever he brings in...everyone will be calling for HIS head.

What if KU stuns Texas?

saidtoomuch...the reason I don't have faith in the AD or the University is because I've seen countless AD's come in...promise to resurrect the football program...and then it goes nowhere. We have a horrible track record for getting the right football coach at Kansas. Throughout our history, we've had a few blips on the radar, but nothing consistent.

I realize HCMM crossed the line several times, but he's brought the program to where people actually have to game plan for use, to where we don't give up 70 points on a routine basis, to where we actually believe we're going bowling every year...and most importantly...he WANTS to be at Kansas. It's not a stepping stone to him.

I'd just hate to see him go, but it's obvious Lew wants him out or this would have been handled internally. My University is embarrassing me right now because of how this has been handled. Not very professional IMHO.

I would just like to get an Idea of who supports Mangino...

I have to agree with coolhand on this one. I think Glen Mason could have built a powerhouse, but he was never going to stay in the Big 8 anyway. In Mangino, we have a guy that actually WANTS to be the head football coach at Kansas. He's not looking at it as a stepping stone.

I don't condone the things that apparently he's done, but you can't argue with the results. I mean...when did ANYONE think we'd win a BSC Bowl? I realize his record isn't great in the Big XII, but coolhand got it right...we have a team now that we expect to win most games...and not be over matched in those few that we don't (i.e. Texas). That wasn't always the case and may have never been the case.

I hope it all works out that he can continue, but I think he's taken quite the PR hit on this one that I don't think he can come back. Too bad. KU finally became a fun team to watch. (Okay...not this year...but...)

Investigation under way

HCMM has been the most successful coach at KU in...heck...30-40 years?!? It would be a mistake to run him off. If we run him off...who's going to want this job? Kansas isn't one of the premier football programs in the Big XII...let alone the country. I'd hate to see us slide back into football irrelevance again.

Back on track?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/st...

Yep Royal...just saw that too. Not good when the Bucs have penciled you in as a starter. I realize we don't know all...or any at this point...of the details, but can't these guys just stay out of trouble long enough to have a nice Pro-Bowl career? After you retire and cash all those paychecks...THEN go crazy bananas! But until then...sheesh!

Feast or famine?

“I think a lot of it has to do with exposure,” said Opurum, who selected Kansas over Florida, Notre Dame and Nebraska.--------------That sentence says a ton about the state of Kansas Football. More than the star ratings of these kids, it's who we're beating out to sign these kids. Guys that could go to a more traditional football school are suddenly taking interest in Mt. Oread. We've come a loooong way baby! I'm very excited about the future of KU Football!RCJH!

Do you like mohawks?

I say let 'em have fun! I had an amazingly bad mullet when I was a freshman in the late '80's. It was the first time I could "grow my hair long and show my independence". When else in life are you going to be able to try out some crazy haircut? Now that I'm 40, there's no crazyness for me anymore. Unless...

FINAL: UMass stuns KU, 61-60

I concur...jross hit it on the head. Look, we just won the NC and lost almost the entire team...we're going to have growing pains. What we have to focus on is the Big XII. Let the kids learn now and get some experience for conference play. Remember, when last years team were freshmen/sophomores, they started 4-5 and ended up co-Big XII champs with Texas!Sherron is going to try and be The Man until he can trust the kids. He and Cole have to try and carry the team now, but it won't be long before some of the other guys step up and give them some help.Patience people. They're kids.RCJH!

Pierce, Rush or Someone Really Cool I Don't Even Know About Yet

I'll never forget the first few games of Pierce's freshman year. I told my buddies "We'll be lucky to keep him 3 years." And we were lucky! I saw superstar from the start. I didn't feel that way about Rush. IMHO, Rush never seemed to WANT the money shot. Paul ALWAYS wanted it. When we inbounded the ball, down 3 against Memphis...I said to my wife "Where's Mario! Get him the ball!" I didn't say "Where's Brandon!"Pierce in my eyes is THE MAN. (No offense to Danny because we're talking about SF's. Manning is always #1 with me and PP is 1A.)Geeze...what's with me and the capital letters today? Must be too much caffeine. ;-)RCJH!

KU headed to Insight Bowl

I think it's just because some of the other sports sights are predicting Minnesota. So, I'm thinking "Hmmm...spend New Years here in bitterly cold Chicago or warm, sunny Arizona?" No brainer! Tempe here I come! ;-)
