Mangino's contract outlines probe

I find it humorous that either KU did not do it's due dilligence before we hired him or we just forgot about who Mangino really is. At KSU he was Snyder's enforcer. He would rip a players heart out and then grandpa Snyder would build the player back up. At OU he did the same thing for Stoops. Who did we think we were getting...a chior boy? I am not saying he is a bad guy, but he demands a lot out of his players. His biggest failure (yet to be determined failure) may have been not having an assistant to play good cop/bad cop with.

I also find it humorous that many posters think that KU football is to the point that a coach cannot have a sub-par season. I don't think MM fumbled or dropped passes. If we go to a bowl game this season I will be very happy that we were able to achieve something after the last 5 weeks. I remember when a sub-par season was less than 4 wins...that was like 5 years ago. ISU firing McCarney a few years ago after a couple "sub-par" seasons really set them back when they did not need to make a change. We are never going to be an OU or Texas...it is financially impossible. Mangino's approach to keep sawing wood is what KU needs. We will be a constant work-in-progress every year with our recruiting potential.

I am disgusted with the KUAD for handling this situation so poorly. You would think that with all the negative pub we have recieved lately that we would keep this in-house until the investigation was completed. Until then, RCJH Mark Mangino.

What if KU stuns Texas?

I think many posters on here have an over-inflated view of our football program. While the Mack Brown's and Pete Carroll's have different coaching philosphy's than Mark Mangino you have to realize the type of player they are bringing in. We are looking for a needle in a haystack while they get he pick of the litter. There is not much "coaching" done at these programs because they have athletes and can just let them play. Our guys (for the most part) need to be "coached". We must be assignment sound as we cannot make up for our mistakes with athletic ability. I do, however, think it is the coaches responsibility to understand if a kid can handle his "coaching" methods.

I doubt if anyone really knows what has been happening with Mangino and the players, but Lew is an idiot for going public. Our school has been in the media for the wrong reasons too much lately.

KU hoping to move ball better against UCA

I am glad for the win, but 21 turnovers on 73 (est) possessions is a problem. You don't see us only score 57 points and shoot 46% very often. It seems when we get "sped up" bad things happen. I would have liked to see some back screens as Memphis was pressuring our perimeter so much. Glad it is only November. Rock Chalk!

Investigation under way

How can Lew not fire HCMM after all this? Mangino's credibility is now trashed and I do not even see how he can coach on Saturday. I agree with all of you who hope something more than a "chest poke" comes out of this. Hopefully Lew is not turning this into more than it is just to fire him. Fire him for going 1-7, not for something potentially ruining his career.

Is KU football worst in Big 12 this season?

We cannot fire Mangino after one bad/possible mediocre season after the "turnaround". First of all, who would we get to replace him? There are not many coaches that possess the skills and name recognition we would want. Second, with a weak conf schedule next year he will more than likely save his job. Same crap next season and he may get a pink slip. Lastly, we need to sell the Gridiron Club and starting over with a new coach does not a $30,000 investment make. Maybe a new OC?

Robinson not just a ‘motor’

gojbirds, I agree with you. I told my wife last night at the game that he reminded me of Wayne...who was sitting right behind the bench.

KU coughs it up

Here is a good question: If Reesing is not going to throw the ball more than 10 yards down the field, why not try to get a spark from Pick? He is a better runner and better be able to throw a 10 yard pass or why is he even on the roster? It can't hurt. I would rather lose by not being able to move the ball than turning it over 3 times a game.

Hope and expectations are sometimes evil. As KU fans we have all been waiting for a day when we could be proud for our football team. That day has come and teetering towards past. Hopefully we can get it going by seasons end. It is still football season!!

Rock chalk.

KU coughs it up

kurules- your comment reminds me of all the KSU and MU opinions about us in 2007.
Todd reminds me of Chase Daniel at the end of last year...turnover prone and could not find a reciever.
I will not blame Todd alone for yesterday. If we would have been playing ANYONE else we would have been down 20-7 at halftime. For KSU to only get 10 pts off 3 to's was a huge break. The 2nd half was tough to watch, but what about Meiers drops and trying to get a run game going with 8 min. to go down by 2 scores? There was no urgency to score. No hurry-up offense at all. You could throw a dart at the 2 deep and coaching staff and find blame.
KU football = trainwreck.

Reesing: Benching ‘was a big deal to me’

I agree with jakzhumans. Reesing has had a LONG leash. Look at all the demotions, especially to Thornton, a senior who has been there with Reesing the last 4 years. Nobody cares about him getting benched. Todd gets all the glory (most of the time he deserves it) and now must deal with the reality of failure. Hopefully he digs deep and can give the team his best. Did anyone really think he would not start this weekend?
