I think they may have already desided to:
a) reward TN with the MW 1.
b) Reward TX with the 2 in their home region (Houston)
c) Give us the two in Detriot with arguably the easiest one. Sort of like UCLA last year.
If we win they might flip flop us and TN

A few observations:
1. Coaching. I think Barnes made a good adjustment after getting pounded on the boards in the first half. I think he sent five guys to the glass said KU fast break be damned. Our bigs seemed to box out, but the other guys "swooping" in killed us. How many swoops does it take before you grab your guards and say, "Box out?" Barnes adjusted and it seems like Self did not re-adjust.
Also, running a play on the first possession of the 2nd half that puts your star player in danger of picking up a screening foul does not seem to smart to me. The refs had to have made some point about it, 'cause they called one on TX the next play.
2. Getting 'speeded-up.' During the scoring drought of the 2nd half, RussRob took a long, unguarded three early in the shot clock, Arthur took a 19 footer early in the shot clock. Rush pulled up on a break to take a three w/o anyone underneath. Colllins rushed a penetration move and left the ball short of the rim. DJack got an offensive rebound and threw up an off balance spinner when we had a new shot clock. Does the team not believe that they can get a good look late in the clock. They usually do.
3. What is our bread and butter? I don't mean who is gonna take the last shot. I mean what are we gonna run over and over in key situations. I know what K-State's gonna do. Clear out for Beastly, with plan B being Walker. TX is gonna drive A'stine, get fouled or pitch to Abrams. You hear the talking heads mention our 7 scoring leaders, as a good thing, but it hurts us when the other team just put on a 7 point run and we are all lookin around for somebody else to end it.
4. Where is the defensive intensity that leads to our own big runs?
The hawks are in for another good run, but they have work to do.

It's so typical of Tom to throw out a stat w/o any context. Sure, Rush is averaging less than 30 for the season, which includes some games he played restricted minutes coming back from his knee.
But what about the conference season? Rush's average is more than 32 min per game. Leading the 'Hawks.
Anyone who has watched the 'Hawks play knows that Rush is the leading player in terms of minutes.
For Tom to suggest otherwise is an insult to the intelligence of his readers.
A Bill Mayer in waiting. Wow.

Who cares about our mid season ranking. We jump up to third next week, 'cause Puke or NC will lose tomorrow.
The voters always give more credit to the most recent loss.
If you want to pat yourself on the back, read Ken Pomroy's ratings or the Sagarin pure points rating. KU ranks first in both. And it all means squat.
Unlike football, they settle it on the court.

Kaun deserves the love. One of the brightest spots for the Jayhawks, at the halfway point of the Big 12 season, is how Kaun has blossomed in his current role.
Shooting well over 60%, rebounding strong, getting to the line, and recently, making his free throws.
Kaun will continue to struggle as a traditional post up, back to the basket guy. He struggles to get his shot off, especially when help slides over and he fights through two guys.
He is at his best hitting the offensive glass, getting the cheap ones off dribble penetration from our guards as well as the odd lob or transition basket.
Having a dude like that on our bench is an amazing luxury. Big guys get in foul trouble from time to time and having two starter quality guys in reserve is huge.
Other bright spots:
Collins getting his quicks back. He looks much quicker than a week or so and while he is often outta control by the time he beats two guys to get to the rim, at least he's blowing past guys. Hopfully he'll start to finish a little better and regain his 3-pt touch.
Rush's elevation. He is getting stronger every week too. Also watch him set his feet on 3-pt trys. It's a clinic.
As bad as Aldrich was at receiving passes last night, he showed some promise in terms of playing more serious minutes and contributing on the glass and the defensive end. It's a bright spot that the team was willing to feed him on pick and rolls . . . I think that he'll be better prepared to finsh strong next time.
In limited time, it was nice to see Arthur get to the line. If he gave us 28 minutes like he played the 2nd half, he'd be a 20-10 guy.
DJack is playing so solid all around.
Chalmers too.
Things we could fine tune:
Out of control drives to the hoop by RussRob and Collins. No point in beating your guy off the dribble if you can't finish.
Tighter play by Stewart. If we want to keep Rush rested, and I am on record saying we should cap Rush at 28-30 minutes, we need Stew to come in, play solid D and not make mistakes. Bad passes and ugly 3-point bricks equal more minutes for Rush. It seems like when we sit Rush, we should focus on the bigs a little more. Solid play from Stew 3 mins at a stretch would be a big plus.
Is our defensive intensity where it was at the end of last year? Not yet. But we're not far off.
I'd also be remiss not to comment on the fantastic feed from Arthur to Chalmers at CU. Best pass from a KU big man since the Manning era. OK, Julian had a bunch too, but he hit the pep squad way too often.
Things are bright for the 'Hawks and with a little fine tuning, a long run in the Show seems certain.

I am curious as to why he'd even need to go to the games. He just dusts off the same drivel he's been writing since manual typewriters were the rage and changes the names.
"if we win our first 3 games, we could be 3 and 0, but if we lose to that up and coming Tulsa/Central Mich/Toledo/fill-in the blank squad, we start the Big 8/12 slate at 2-1 and need to win at least two on the road to qualify for a bowl."
Thanks Bill.
