hawkone--You do realize Terry Allen and Ron Prince are/were infamous for hiring no-talent friends as assistant coaches? Bad assistant coaches = bad team, no matter how good the head man is. Promoting someone with zero head DC experience is exactly the kind of thing Terry Allen or Ron Prince would. They did do it. My statement was fact, not opinion.Mangino is a great coach but he made a mistake in promoting Bowen to such an important position.

The D was on the field all the time because they couldn't get a stop. Make sense?You can't allow 45 points and expect to win. That's the bottom line.I have no problem with Wariner. He had a bad day play calling but since he arrived last season, our spread offense has ruled. Rememeber Nick Quartao? Oh my God...talk about inept.However Bowen blows. Mangino really should have looked outside the program and at least tried to bring in a quality DC to replace Young. DC is a very important position and to promote someone within that has never done it before.....that is something Terry Allen or Ron Prince would do.

Keegan: Don't blame Bowen

2007 was a great season.Our program is good, but not great.Seasons will have ups (2007) and downs (2006, maybe this year). But as long as the program is showing improvement, that's all that can be expected.

Walk-on guard joins Jayhawks

The only problem I see with race in this discussion is how sensitive some people are to it. It's true that most of our walkons are white. Why is that? Aren't there some black kids or asian kids out there who play ball but aren't good enough to make the team?Personally I don't care. But it amused me how upset people get about race. We, as a people, will never be totally over the race thing until we can talk about it freely without offending people.
