KU football's 2020 class picks up commitment from Florida prep DE Chris Jones

We might not have to worry about kids backing out before December. Mile might have a backlog going.

Matt Tait: The optimist's outlook on the 2019 KU football team

I just posted this on the Pessimist article before seeing the Optimist so i will repost here.

How about a statistical approach. Every decade since 1950 we have had a minimum of one 7+ wins in a season. 1980's having only 1 season. Every other decade oscillating between 2 and 3 seasons of 7+ wins. This decade = 0. Law of averages says we are due. I'm not saying we are going to get 7 this year but we are past due and the history supports a rally every 10 years or so. I think what the stat means is KU admin/fans have a tolerance of 5-7 years before heads roll. A) this decade broke that mold in a bad way but eventually heads did roll. B) Instead of waiting for the reactive down cycle and being patient, it would be great to see a proactive long term strategy and lack of patience like we have with the basketball program.

David Beaty's lawyers file response to Kansas Athletics' motion to dismiss lawsuit

He called a timeout to consult with them then he decided to drop the lawsuit, no wait let's go for it, no let's change jurisdiction, send in the best lawyer, who is that, not sure, let's ping pong a few until one emerges, oh wait we forgot to recruit that position, maybe there is a junior lawyer waiting for the right chance, etc....../s (for those who have a hard time chuckling through this.

Matt Tait: Beer sales at Memorial Stadium worth the risk for Kansas football

"And while we’re being real, we all know that one cocktail per game probably won’t be the going rate for many fans." If the team shows no improvement, I might not be able to drive home.

New ESPN+ streaming series to feature Les Miles and KU football

Miles had to agree with this and know his reputation was totally on the line and in the end if KU fails to improve everyone will say it's KU, nothing new but everyone will also say Miles is not the coach he thought he was and inherited an LSU team prime for a title. This makes me believe Miles really believes he can make a huge difference here, that the pieces are close enough to make something good happen. He's not just getting some extra millions right before retirement from a desperate school. Everything he has done so far indicates he is a coach of national stature and if he believes we are almost there then he can take us there and that would be great to watch on a TV series. It's a gamble but puts some pressure on to succeed as well so I say go for it.

Jayhawks: Les Miles and staff's emphasis on physicality helped O-line's run blocking

The OL improved dramatically last year. If they can improve another 25% this year and we have a big tall QB that can see downfield and connect then with Pooka and gang I think we will be happy with offense this year.

'This is where I want to be': Clint Bowen provides continuity for KU football

I took over a company 3 years ago. Had an engineer everyone at the company just railed on. No one wanted to work with him. Young guy. I talked to the guy, asked what was going on and he said no one really came along side him. He was isolated so he was just doing the best he could. I was in the process of hiring a new mature experienced engineer. I told him to take the young guy under his wing and mentor him. That guy everyone wanted to fire is now a rock star in his group. I gave him a big raise this year. Bowen is a Jayhawk thru and thru. He needs a great mentor. Maybe Miles will pave the way for him.

Jayhawks pick up first 2021 commitment from Texas prep WR Majik Rector

I was wondering what was taking Miles so long to get going on 2021. If he keeps this up my expectations are going to get out of whack. ;-) Here's hoping they do.

Why Les Miles might bring stability at QB for Kansas football

I will be thrilled if I don't see Miles call a two yard pass on first down, bring in backup QB to run for a minus 2 to the right, bring in starter QB to throw ball 25 yards straight at the sideline for a catch and loss of 2 yards, then call a timeout to decide if we are going to punt. Sorry, my PTSD is showing.
