Shoot for the stars

Jaybate needs to read some of his posts. I have often wondered if he took English 101.

Four Jayhawks suspended

Briscoe had better get with it if he wants a high NFL draft position. One T.O. in the league is enough and his behavior will reduce his draft level-and cost him a lot of money at the same time.

KU sells courtside basketball seats for $15,000 each

You want to sit in courtside seats? In old Nichols Gym at Cow College the students did sit there. In the season of 1946 when Charley Black stood out of bounds to throw in the ball, one of the students pinched him. BIG MISTAKE! Charley responded with an elbow driven into the pinchers face. Messed his face pretty badly. Courtside???

Title would have been vacated

The NCAA doesn't hurry. They have had 4 years to come up with a decision on the issue of Reggie Bush and the $265,000 his agent put up buying the family a home. The evidence is a slam dunk but then USC gets to live by different rules. Even Leinhart was paying something like $275 for a $1300/mo apt. Nothing about them vacating any championshlp or games won.

KU football lands two commitments

ERUREKAHWK--Yes you are young. Gale Sayers and John Riggins come to mind immediately at 5+ Star recruits. Too bad you never got to see them play. Possibly you have heard of them. Both in the NFL Hall of Fame and high picks in the draft the year they came out.

FINAL: Collins scores 25 as Jayhawks rout Tigers, 90-65

Let's give MK & Marcus some credit. They are getting in better position to get rebounds and between them and Aldrich they give HCBS 15 fouls to use in the paint + some help from Little. They get better with each game and aren't getting the credit for the help they give on defense(and now some on offense.)

Too bad the AP and Coaches don't wait to vote on Sunday evening. KU has beaten two teams this week in the top 10 and moved from 15 > 14.

Unless they screw up, KU will get #1 seed in B-12 Tournament, OK #2, MU #3 and that would mean than MU vs OK in one bracket semifinal.

Kansas basketball notebook

Biggest loser for K-State Fan. 1946. In old Nichols Gyn the crowd was actually seated right up to the sideline. On a play that Charley Black took the ball out of bounds to put in play a KSU student pinched him on the butt. Charley drove an elbow back into his face. No one ever recorded how long it took for the "pincher" to regain consciousness or how many stitches it took to put him together again. It was politically correct in those days.

Heat-related lawsuit opens local eyes

THE MAN WHO SAID BODY TEMPERATURE GOES UP 10-15 DEGREES DURING EXERCISE IS AN IDIOT. I USED TO GIVE A TALK TO THE KC HIGH SCHOOL COACHES JUST PRIOR TO STARTING FOOTBALL PRACTICE ABOUT GETTING EVERYBODY HYDRATED AND BEING SURE THEY DID IT. THERE ARE ALWAYS SOME WHO THINK THEY ARE TOUGH AND DON'T NEED TO HYDRATE. THEY NEED TO START THE NIGHT BEFORE THE HOT WEATHER EXERCISE. CHANGING PRACTICE TIMES MAKES SENSE. SHORT PRACTICE TIMES ALSO MAKE SENSE. THERE IS NOTHING MACHO ABOUT FAILING TO HYDRATE.

KU looking into incident between Self, recruit

Glad to see that Reggie Bush has not been forgotten. Apparently the salary cap in the NCAA is about $265,000 as that is what his family was given for him to sign with the agent who supplied the money. At the same time Matt Leinart was paying $200/mo for an appartment renting for $1500. Try rentling an apartment around USC for $200.As usual USC and UCLA get to play by diffenent rules and never seem to get any type of suspension or punishment. You note they win at home with Pac10 officials but have a lot of trouble on the road. Also 59 cent ticket man, I've watched KU basketball when all I had to pay was show my Lawrence Jr. High Library Card(1939). Where were you if you were at all?

Football closing talent gap

Some of the non-specific knocking or any program or person related to Kansas Athletics can't help recruiting, especially with those from KC, Topeka, Wichita and often possibles from smaller communities. Galen Fiss played 6 man football but had a great career in the NFL. This applies to BB as well. You recruit where you find talented athletes. A few years go Henry Bibby(USC BB Coach) was bitching about Roy recruiting BB players in California and said schools should only recruit in their own areas. He hadn't noticed that Rodney Peete(SMSouthwest) and Brad Budde were both from the KC area and were stars at USC and in the NFL later.KU is one of the few schools to have 3 successful programs over the years. I don't believe that any other B-12 school has won NCAA track. KU did twice. There may be some pull for a recruit to be at a school that enjoys winning most of the school year.
