Cupcakes yes, but look at all the so called top teams, they are playing cupcakes also. See UK, UNC, Tenn, UConn,Villanova, etc, etc........................
And yes UNC played #15 Ohio State tonight but their first 3 games were FIU, UNCC, and Valparaiso and their next game is against Gardner-Webb. KUs schedule is no different than most of the other top teams.

Mangino denies validity of former player allegations
Why arent the "stars" or starters saying anything ? Let me ask this, would you say something if you were Reesing or Meier or any other starter for that matter if it is true ? Hell no you wouldnt, because you would possibly take the chance of being benched or made an example of, think about it. I have no idea whether whats been said is true or not but if I was a starter I sure wouldnt say anything, especially if there is any chance of said player playing at the next level. Either way I think we can all agree that MM brought KU FB to heights we've never seen, but this sucks for KU football and the university as a whole ..................

Not-so-gentle reign
Whoever was asking about Rivera this is his quote from the story on ESPN.
Former Jayhawks linebacker Mike Rivera, who plays for the Tennessee Titans, said Wednesday night he could not speak about the allegations. He plans to have a formal interview on the matter with representatives from Kansas in the next few days.
Im pretty sure he's not going to be saying how much he loves MM and what a nice guy he is with those representatives. For all those calling the players candy asses and pussies, its not about the cursing, hollering or even poking. We see this type of thing ALL the time on national tv, its the personal attacks. If my father was an alcoholic, or if my brother had just been shot and he said the things he said in front of the whole team I would have wanted to kick the guy in his fat ass. Call them stupid, call them candy asses but you dont bring their families problems/issues up to embarass them in front of the whole team. And for the person talking about Roy ,yes he was very hard on his players and always hollered when they made mistakes or bonehead plays ( as HCBS has done also- see TT or the twins) , but neither have ever made it personal or attacked them by talking about their families problems. That would be like HCBS telling Cole if you dont get your sheet together Im going to send you home and youll be unemployed like your daddy. MM has crossed the line. The point is this, that isnt going to make a player better or respect him or even want to play for him. What recruit is going to want to come here if the coach is going to belittle his family in order to motivate him ? Not many, and the parents will make sure of that. This isnt the AD's fault, once a player makes a complaint, its his job and obligation to look into it.

Drama takes away from game
Former Kansas defensive lineman Russell Brorsen said while he's "not surprised that people are coming out of the woodwork now," he believes Mangino is a "hard-nosed, demanding, disciplinarian."
"I'm not going to deny that some of those things didn't happen," Brorsen said. "But I think part of the problem here is you have four or five years worth of stuff hitting the fan within a period of three or four days. I think [Mangino] could get pretty intense. And I think there was swearing. But my personal opinion is it's not much worse than what you would get at another university."
Yes his comments do support the coach somewhat, but hes admitting the personal attacks did happen. The problem isnt the hollering, cursing or poking, its the personal attacks. Im sorry but you dont talk about a kids alcoholic father or a family member being shot in a negative sense in front of the whole team and expect him to respect you or play hard for you. Thats crossing the line IMHO.

Im betting his interview isnt to say good things about the coach.

Story on ESPN quoting more former players. I have to say the poking, hollering, and cursing a player happens in football no matter what university pretty much, but the fact of him getting personal and degrading players about their families and family issues is where he crossses the line. I was behind him, and will be if this is untrue, but if it is true which is looking more and more likely, its time for him to go. Players are coming out of the woodwork now - Rivera - Herford- Brown -Collins - Crawford- Brorsen. This doesnt look good, and is an embarrasment to this university.
