Kansas WR Justin McCay out to prove himself

If you recall last year, the depth chart changed quite a bit and will likely do so this year. The depth chart does show what the coaches are thinking now, so the position is Turzilli's to lose. I really liked Turzilli last year, he made some nice catches when not a lot else looked very good on the team. I hope both players continue to get better and both play well for KU.

Self downplays run-in with 'animated' Iowa State fan

My guess is the dunk had less to do with the death threats than the 20 points he scored in the last 5 minutes of the game, single handedly giving KU the victory.

ISU coach Fred Hoiberg impressed by Elijah Johnson, says late no-call 'didn't go our way'

I thought the refs called it poorly, but evenly, throughout the game. The first half there were a lot of ticky tack and phantom fouls called on both teams. The second half there was a lot of contact not called. You can't get upset over one bad call when there were dozens of bad calls that went both ways.

Perfect storm: Elijah Johnson buries ISU with 39 points

What, no one is questioning why EJ is on the team, or Self's mental acuity for sticking with EJ? Nice game EJ.

Notebook: Bill Self fired up during big win; Rio Adams 'frustrated'

A lot of freshmen coming in thought they were God's gift to basketball and felt they were not getting the playing time they wanted. Some have gotten frustrated and left. Others have buckled down, worked hard and gotten better, which won them the playing time they coveted. He can look around the current team/starters and see the rewards of hard work and patience.

Mr. Big Shot: Naadir Tharpe’s field goal puts KU on top

I think you could make a case for any of the starters plus Tharpe, winning the game for KU. B Mac would have the smallest case, but he realized he wasn't on and stopped shooting and continued to defend. EJ was extremely good, but I'd say it took a team effort and that the team won it.

Mr. Big Shot: Naadir Tharpe’s field goal puts KU on top

EJ and Tharpe could have had several more assists, but most of the others passed on open shots. I think one reason they have a poor shooting percentage is because they get the ball back late in the possession, the open people they've gotten the ball to didn't put up a shot, and they have to put one up or face another pass around the horn without a shot being put up. I'd prefer they not put up as many shots when they're not hitting, but with the others backing off, I'm glad they aren't frightened to put up the shot.

Opinion: KU makes it hard for recruit Julius Randle to say no

We lose all 5 starters this year, unless some players really step up next year it will be tough to be playing for a NC next year. Who's going to play where? We're going to be relying on people who can't get on the court much now. Most of the players make pretty good strides during the offseason, so we might be all right. I think we'll be fine at guard, but only Tharpe is getting much playing time now. The forwards now on the team will have to step up their games considerably. The center position concerns me the most..

Three and OUch: Jayhawks' skid continues with road loss to Sooners

I thought if we'd made more of our FTs early on that it would have put more pressure on OU too. We also lost the rebounding war. While the loss isn't fun, I did think our team played like a basketball team again, unlike the OSU and TCU games where they looked like an apathetic team playing keep away, not basketball. Looks like they're over their funk and I'm glad to see it.

KU football recruiting class gets some national love

Ju Co players have worked out nicely for Snyder, not so well for Prince. I think you have to be very careful with Ju Co players. I trust Weis, so I'm sure he did his due diligence and the guys we're bringing in will be good citizens as well as good football players.
