Harrison Barnes chooses North Carolina

At the end of the day, Harrison Barnes is a great student and basketball player, but no different than any other top-flight recruit. He fell for the glitz and bright lights of the country's glamour school, North Carolina. Just like every other recruit. Just like everybody else. And maybe you can't blame him. If he would have chosen UCLA or Iowa State (and to a degree, Kansas) that would have stood out to me as a player or young man who walks his own path and makes his own mark. But he didn't. He's just like them. He's no different. Style wins over substance again.

Selby cuts list to six

I feel good about this year's recruiting crop for Kansas. I think Kansas, at point guard, will end up with either Brandon Knight or Josh Selby. We have a great shot at Harrison Barnes as a big guard and Adrien Payne and Terrence Jones are high on Kansas, at power forward.

KU's Perkins calls recent fights most complicated issue he's dealt with

It's time to leave this story alone. KU Sports has been so wrapped up in this story that its forgotten to report that Harrison Barnes is visiting for Late Night in Oct. Right now that's bigger news, to me. The horse is (has been) dead.

Self hits recruiting trail

Read a story on Rivals about Brandon Knight's in-home visit with KU. Didn't sound like he was overly excited at all.

Self confident Henrys will attend Kansas

I've been critical of the Henrys for months. And yesterday drove me up the wall. Their comments in The Star article drove me up the wall. However, today it's over. I'm over it. And fans should be as well. KU basketball fans love their team with all of their heart. They love their players with all of their heart. And a lot of the time players can't see it. The fans love the Henrys and they want to see them play for the team they love. And when they don't return that love, fans feel slighted. It's like loving a spouse that won't commit to you and is always looking to fool around. I think the fans want to know the Henrys love them as much they love the Henrys. That's all. Carl missed the point and fans missed it as well. Fans just want to know that the Henrys care about them. The Henrys want to know KU fans care for them, as well. Emotions get in the way of the bigger picture. For the first time, Xavier's text said something definitive. "I'm goin to KU and that's final." That's a straight-forward comment straight from the horse's mouth. Xavier made it clear. Carl Henry apologized. I'm fine with both. Am I worried about how the Henrys will affect the chemistry? A little bit. But I trust Bill Self to work that out. It's over. It's done. Let's move on, hope the team comes together, the players improve and KU finishes the season with a NC championship. 2008's title was one of the happiest moments of my life. And I'm really excited to have an opportunity to see that happen again. This is going to be a special season.

Xavier Henry to skip summer school, will report to KU's campus in August

With all of these twists and turns, Xavier had better be a STUD this season.

Tisdale on hand for net cutting

Some would say Chuck's career was dead a while ago. Write a column about that. Poor, poor taste. I agree the Tisdale family needs an apology. Retire, Chuck. And when was the last time he actually wrote something relevant to today? It's been a while.

Recruit Wall charged with breaking and entering

I could care less about John Wall's side of the story or what happens with this situation. He's not coming to KU. He's some other school's problem right now. I'm glad KU didn't land him. Then he would be the Jayhawks' problem. KU has a good enough team to go toe-to-toe with anyone next season. There is no room for Wall. They have all the tools to win a national championship. It's going to be an interesting season and I can't wait.
