Keegan: Meet the next Mario
I thought the SAME thing, Solomon!! That was my first thought when I read that sentence about Majerus.
Shaw,
You say the players should get some of the money the athletic department generates for the university? A stipend, so to speak? IT'S CALLED A SCHOLARSHIP!!!!
Wow, are you kidding me?

Chalmers diving in
I agree. I would like him to return, but that's me being selfish. I think we could make a serious run at another league title, probably not national title, if he comes back. I think the likelihood of Mario returning is far greater than the chances of DA returning. DA WILL be a lottery pick, Mario could get pushed out of the first round. Some guys hurt their stock by staying an extra year (i.e. Roy Hibbert), but it really benefits others (i.e. Brandon Roy). I feel Mario has a great chance to IMPROVE his draft stock by staying another year. He will be the primary scorer next year if he comes back and will not have Augustin overshadowing him in our conference. All signs point to a return!! Come back, Mario! We need ya, buddy!

Mayer: Jayhawks of 1966 good, too
Isn't it great to have a basketball heritage and tradition like this? Just the fact that we're even able to have this discussion is a testament to the program's greatness. I love the Jayhawks and always will. 2008 National Champions and 37-3 will be forever heralded as one of the greatest teams/seasons in our storied history.
This is an interesting discussion to banter about, but the bottom line is no matter how you slice it, the history of college basketball can always be linked back to the University of Kansas.
Whether or not the '08 squad is definitively the best ever, they gave us a National Championship and some of the best memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!!!! GO KU!!!

Super Sunday
I'd like to know who leaves their 12-YEAR OLD KID to go to a parade with 10,000 people by herself. The article said she had to go meet her mother at LHS. Sorry, but that's just irresponsible parenting.

Keegan: Realistic future awaits
Guys, X Henry is as good as ours. All indications point to him becoming a Jayhawk. Anybody have any news on Willie Warren? Maybe I'm totally out of the loop, but where are we with that guy?
Keegan, Thanks for a great article. My feelings exactly when something like an Oral Roberts or Bucknell happens. I love Bill Self and he IS the perfect coach for KU. Even if we do lose a few more next year, it'll be hard to see because the glare from the National Championship trophy will be so bright!

Keegan: Kansas' best - ever
Actorman,
Mario being named the Tournament's MOP guarantees he'll have his jersey retired. It's one of the "automatic qualifiers" so to speak.

Keegan: Sarcastic answers for Self
I like this article from Keegs. It actually made me laugh. I think it's good for people to be able to laugh at themselves. Keegan can call the media out because he's a member. It's not like he's taking pot shots at people who can't defend themselves. It was just a little humor to break up the tension of this week. Nothin' wrong with that.

'A bad weekend'
bmk,
You mentioned the two games I was going to bring up that no one else had said yet. The Michigan St. game (I think HCBS's second game in AFH) and the OSU game in Lawrence where Wayne had like 32 points or something. Both of those will forever live in my mind. Great, great victories.

Keegan: Guessing really is the best
PittJay,
That is eerie. I love little stuff like that. Nice catch. Usually I'd brush it off as coincidence, but six straight decades is hard to ignore. Let's hope it holds true to form.

KU basketball reaps benefits of players meeting
Jaybate,
Could we talk to Self and work it out so you could give the pregame speeches to our 'hawks?
"The road to victory passes through the unblinking knowledge that total defeat is a real possibility and that fear of it too must be marshalled as a resource to fight for total victory..."
Wow, I didn't think anything could top your "jazz combo" analogy several weeks ago, but that was impressive. And, by the way, I totally agree with you.
Some might see it as corny or over the top, but I think a meeting like they had was necessary, if maybe a little cliche. We have great leadership on this team and anything short of a Final Four will be a disappointment to say the least. Yes, its just a game, but to these guys its been their livelihood for four or five years, and to us diehard Jayhawk fans who ride the roller coaster with every win or loss its more than a game. Each of these seniors has endured hardship in their careers at Kansas. Russell had to find himself as a man after his freshman and sophomore season. Rod had to find his way out of Lodrick's shadow and then had Allen ripped from his life. Jeremy has endured the scrutiny of fans who constantly viewed him as an underachiever and the last thread connection to the painful exit of Ol' Roy. Sasha was half a world away from home and took four years to find his niche on this team. Darnell has experienced pain since coming here few of us will ever know in half a lifetime. I recently lost my grandfather to cancer and can't imagine going through pain like that over and over again in four short years of college. Their lives are bigger than basketball. But basketball has brought them all together. One common goal, one common purpose ties these pieces together. For the seniors, for the fans, for Old KU, let's hang another banner. Let's go win a CHAMPIONSHIP!!
