Game balls and Gassers
How about a game ball for Opurum? Over 100 yds rushing and 20-some receiving. Quite a good day when we needed him badly. He was today's top player in my estimation.

Pollard most likely done with NBA
RCJ, on what basis do you call Jordan the GOAT? On championships? Robert Horry has more, not to mention Bill Russell. On performance? Chamberlain had the same scoring average, rounded to tenths, plus Wilt rebounded at a rate no one else did. Wilt once led the league in assists, nothing "Mr. Me" ever did.
In the NBA Efficiency Rating, a metric designed to measure a player's performance including all aspects of the game, including scoring, rebounding, assists, shooting efficiency, fouls, etc., Wilt leads all career aveages with a rating of 41.5, nearly 10 rating points above number two, Bill Russell. The ten rating points below Russell's 31.7 encompasses 56 players down to Jeff Ruland's 21.7.
Consider that. Wilt, then nobody for nearly ten points. Then the next ten points have 57 guys crammed into the rating. MJ, by the way, is number 8. Oscar Robertson is number 3.
Michael was great, no doubt about it, but his reputation as the greatest is a product of the ESPN and Nike PR machinery.

Stories to follow in 2009
Bill, are you saying that someone who is making $18 million a year (or even a measly $400K per) can't find it in his budget to donate to the university that gave him the opportunity to become rich beyond any reasonable expectation?
The reason 60% of NBA players are broke within 5 years of retirement is not because they chose to donate a few grand to their alma mater, it's because they buy multiple cars, various and sundry bling, lavishly spend on wine, women, song, and posses.
If Paul Pierce is not set for life by now, it's not likely he ever will be.
These guys don't need to tithe, but it certainly is within their means to donate $10K or $20K a year.

C.J.’s impact a mystery
Brock, "lack of talent?" Really? CJ was All-State in HS, and averaged over 20ppg. He was recruited hard by KU (and committed before signing with the Yankees).
He might have some rust to get rid of, but lacking talent doesn't describe him, at all.
