Gophers favored in omens
"Thornton’s play at cornerback after converting from safety in midseason was the single biggest key to the secondary’s turnaround, one detailed in today’s GameDay section, which was printed hours before news broke that Thornton would not play in the game."It may have been WRITTEN hours before the news broke but it certainly wasn't PRINTED hours before. Thornton did not make the trip. The story about him not playing was on the website on Monday. While I don't know the exact time, the first comment on the story was December 29, 2008 at 1:55 p.m.

KU's Thornton to miss Insight Bowl
I did not mean that he had played poorly this season. Thornton has been solid all year, as you say. But he did have five interceptions a year ago, compared to zero this year. While I credit a lot of that to not throwing his way nearly as much, I was wanting to see him pick off six this year. He'll get 'em next year.

KU's Thornton to miss Insight Bowl
If he were Talib would he be sitting out? Justin is a great kid and I'm sure this will burn in his gut for a year. He didn't have the kind of year I expected, but hopefully this will motivate him.

KU great Norm Cook dead at 53
As a kid when he played, I thought it was sad that he didn't get a real number. My dad and I had a running discussion on whether he should be listed first or last on a numerical roster. It wasn't until later I realized that the 00 fit in the middle of C00K! May he rest in peace.

Sources: Snyder to return as K-State football coach
I've been hearing for weeks that this was a done deal from a buddy who knows a guy who...The next part of his story is Snyder is going to coach at a greatly reduced salary and is going to pay his assistants much more than they would likely make elsewhere. There is an argument going on in house because some apparently think that Snyder must make more than Mangino.

Jesse Newell's Sideline Report
Justin Thornton is my favorite KU player. He has really improved on the football field over the past three years.
