Game balls and Gassers
What in the h3ll is wrong with a bunch of our students? Is getting back to drinking or video games more important than attending the sporting event? I guess this is the result of this generation of kids growing up playing sports on playstation; you can just save the game and walk away. Wake up, this is the real thing pencil necks.
Also you spoiled brats that left early don't know how lucky you are to have a team this good to watch. I was in school in the 80's, stayed till the bitter end of every game...and most of them were blow-out losses. If you can't show some loyalty and stay until the end of the game, don't come, give your ticket to a real fan. By the way, I hope you don't graduate; you are undeserving to be called a jayhawk and I don't want you as a fellow alumni.

NU streak witnessed from start
I could give a crap less about what happened to Nebraska or Missouri players/coaches/family from the 1962 game.
Chuck, I think you e-mailed this article to the wrong newspaper, try sending it to the Lincoln Journal Star or better yet and since you are such a fine loyal alum to the Columbia Daily Tribune.
Did you have your "Antler" dress on when you wrote this? Note to self, you are still in Lawrence writing for the LJW and its rabid KU fanbase.
My criticism of this worthless journalism does not mean that still do not enjoy your "Notes & Quotes".

Sherron Collins: Best KU guard ever?
Best KU team and best point guard was Cedric Hunter in 1985-1986...Hands Down.

Down for the count
All of the criticisms of Hightower's officiating are valid. I watched the game at Henry T's with a group of long time KU fans and when they announced the officials, we all agreed we were now playing six guys. Every time we started to make some sort of run, Hightower would make some kind of call. The only thing he didn't was "high-fice" Izzo. He did spend enough time around him during the game. Hightower will alwasy be a 'homer" official. With that said, had he not been calling the game, we would have only lost by single digits...

KU Boot Camp off to rousing start
jross--I am in complete agreement with your assessment on Xavier. However, young people sometimes do funny things when it comes to decision-making and Late Night is an amazing experience (although Xavier has been in the past). Maybe, just maybe, he will find himself inspired to become a Jayhawk.

Mayer: Flawed history amended
Mayer, interesting and good piece of journalism. Many of these early African-American athletes endured ridiculous amounts of racism, some of it in Lawrence, yet many have either buried or shed any bitterness to go on with their lives to achieve many great and positive things on and off the basketball court. Thank you to each one of these athletes for breaking the barrier and with class.Mayer, I would be interested to see an article on what has become of many of our early KU African-American athletes, and if I were to ask anyone to cover this, it would be you with your great historical knowledge of KU and its sports alumni.derringer29--Eminim, Vanilla Ice, House of Pain, Beastie Boys; whites have broken the rap white barrier. Rap was not started in white suburbia but in the black inner city. It took some time to migrate into the white main stream. Last, this is a sports blog, find something topical to say related to sports.

Thrills, spilled
Greenworld--Thanks for your support on this "debate". This banter really is worthless. It would be more topical if we were debating something about the article. I am not sure if KG's mother read it to him yet. Also, KG is at the games, look for the group of people all holding a piece of rope together being led into the GA section.KG--my issue is not with all special needs people, but mainly with their parents, like your mother, who forgot to lock the door to the room with the computer so you couldn't make assinine posts. Greenworld--Also, just so you know, you and KG together couldn't open a can of whoop-*ss on me. But if that little yellow bus pulls up in front of my home one day to let both you and KG out, then it will be on.

Game balls & Gassers
Wilson has great hands, runs great routes and had a great night, but he is slow. He has no seperation speed. Don't get me wrong, he is a good receiver, just not the fastest. He had a great night. The gassers...the KU offensive tackles and the KU defensive ends. How sad, Reesing scrambles for his life every other down as the SF Defensive Ends turn the corner on our tackles all night...and Grothe sits in the pocket all night as our Defensive Ends can't turn the corner on the SF tackles to pressure him.Don't blame the d-backs, the d-line lack of pressure on the opposing q-back IS the problem.

Keegan: KU's 20 minutes of doom
njjayhawk--You are right on with your post. pekka2sasha--Can you really say we deserve a top-25 ranking after THAT performance? Top-25 teams find a way to win...hold on to leads...shut people down...take crowds out of a game...etc. They do not need to come up with excused for a loss. There is no shame in us not being a top-25 team; we just aren't. We have to earn a ranking and we proved we did not deserve it Friday night.
