Ottawa’s Semi Ojeleye to visit Duke on May 31

Semi is clearly a a high D1 talent, and has the academics to go along. Stanford, Wisconsin, and Northwestern came to Goodland to watch the kid last December. He's been well coached, so he'll be ready to step in and play where ever he ends up. My guess is that he'll end up at one of the schools with very high academic standards, as it's very important to their family. I think the 'Hawks have an outside shot if they decide to offer, as I know one of his coaches is a KU alum, and his father is graduate of KU med, and did his residency there as well.

Lawrence commissioners considering renaming street after former KU football coach Don Fambrough

....by that logic, we should re-name Naismith Dr.????

Coach was arguably one of the best ambassadors to the city of Lawrence, and the University of Kansas. He was sought out by children, teachers, businessmen, and coaches for motivation, humor, his generally great disposition. The man devoted much of his life making KU/Lawrence the place that most of us love.

JMO, but if there is anyone MORE deserving of having a few blocks named in their honor, they would be in truly elite company.

Coaching Search 2011: Day 10, 4:16 p.m. - More on June Jones, Auburn and Wisconsin OC Paul Chryst; Plus, is Zenger now targeting NFL guys?

Matt - You have another "in" with Jacksonville. KU alum Cole Pepper is the local color/media guy for the Jags. Great guy that you should get in touch with.

Realignment Today: 1:37 p.m. - Big 12 announces West Virginia as newest member; Self, Zenger and Gray-Little welcome Mountaineers

+100

....Think about it. I'll be the first to admit that this "shake up" stinks for tradition, but the direction our "new" league is moving, we will need to be on CBS at least four/five times a year to make some 3rd tier money. The IMG deal on local stations for a year won't touch one game on CBS.

Former Jayhawk asst. coaches CURRENTLY head coaches
Tim Jankovich - Illinois St.
John Calipari - Louisville
Matt Doherty - SMU
Bill Self - Kansas

Former Jayhawk asst. coaches that are FORMER head coaches

Steve Robinson - Fla. St.
Jerry Greene - Tenn. & Oregon
Ralph Miller - Wichita St.
Neil Doughtery - TCU
Norm Roberts - St. Johns

I'm sure there are many more, but that's what I could come up with off the top of my head.

The calm after the storm

Matt-
So what do we do with our "windfall" assuming the projections hold up? While I tend to agree with many that the extra 6-9 million is important for the FB program, especially stadium upgrades as those would actually generate revenue, is this where they should throw all the extra cash?

At some point I think it is going to be prudent to expand our "Olympic" sports, in order to make ourselves marketable for the next round. For example, I think we could have an extremely competitive wrestling program for relative pennies....and surely we could find a Title IX counterpart for relatively cheap.
