Mangino denies validity of former player allegations
treidy... thanks for the link, and I'm glad another angle to this story is being reported so that hopefully all sides are considered and reported.
I've said in other posts that Mangino is far from perfect, but I'm not sure he is the monster he is being made out to be... if Lew and the university were so concerned about his ways, an 'investigation' would have been conducted years ago.
The sad thing is not only that Mangino's actions may have made the university look bad, but that on a bigger scale the AD and overall administration's actions are making KU look bad.

Drama takes away from game
So if Mangino has been over the line for the past five or six years, and the AD and administration has done nothing about it, the university is looking incredibly bad as well as Mangino. This entire thing and the way it's suddenly become an issue is a joke.
Basically is looking like this: Lew/KU doesn't care about his style and derogatory comments if his team wins... Lew/KU takes the high moral road now that his team is losing.
Pretty sad for KU regardless if he stays or goes.
Whatever.

Mangino wins games, not friends
Ok, think I've read every column on this matter (so far) and also the majority of comments to each... guess it leaves me wondering one general thing - why are people acting like they are just realizing now how Mangino operates? If his demeanor & methods are really the issue, then he would have been sent packing years ago, especially after the chewing he gave Pendleton that became a youtube classic.
In my opinion this reaction to Mangino is because there have been five straight weeks of losing... if we had even gone just 3-2 over the past few games, the 'poking' or whatever else are the specifics of this matter wouldn't be such an issue.
He is what he is, and we've all known it for a looooong time... unless someone has been complaining all along, then people look ridiculous complaining now - kind of hypocritical. Mangino hasn't just suddenly started actiing like this. I think when all has been said and done, it will show that he is the same then as he is now.
So if 'poking' (or cussing, etc) wasn't an issue say six years ago to people, why is it now?
Also, some are saying he doesn't deserve all that much credit... well, in my opinion, I'll definitely give him his due. I sat through four seasons in the late 80s as an undergrad, and the program is worlds apart from those ridiculous days. And to be fair, I also see Mangino obviously needs to work on numerous things (his understanding of differing views... his health, etc). Nothing is perfect, and of course he is not.
It will be interesting to see how this unfolds... KU football is in a much better place than eight years ago, that is for sure. I just hope whatever happens over the next few weeks is positive for the players, programs and university, and we don't suddenly take some major steps backwards.

Kansas’ image ugly after ridiculous turf war
strongbadia... so if something is popular that justifies it in your eyes?

cobweb - you speak bluntly and clearly, and I agree. Everyone is too intoxicated with winning... just look at so many of these responses of 'you guys better win', etc... like winning will somehow negate the facts of all this mess.
Ridiculous indeed.

strongbadia... telling a white dude from Kansas that he can't understand how the n-word is used is pretty short-sighted.... it's not that difficult, and the meaning is pretty easy to understand by anyone.
So Collins and Taylor apologized, but for what? For getting thrown into the spotlight for something they wouldn't have been sorry for if Taylor hadn't had to go to the hospital? Sure sounds like it, and also sounds like they are ready to continue using the n-word because the people/artists they 'look up to' use it, etc... This is ridiculous, and the apologies were a facade for what these guys are really about.
BTW, where are the football players apologies???

KU coach Self disappointed with feud
Alright... a couple individuals can't read sarcasm without hearing the tone of ones voice, so I'll repost my response to stanfordstarter from above...
> > > > > > >
stanfordstarter... you're completely right. As you said, we are 'about a month away from a unbelievable season', and that's all that matters. Let's not rock that boat by talking about the reality of all this fist throwing and racial slurs being spewed around on campus... it doesn't matter... let's just WIN!!!
You prove my point from before that all that matters to most is winning.
Whatever.

Kansas playing dodgeball
Thank you Keegan!!!
I think KU is dodging things big time... I just responded to the article on Bill Self responding to the 'feud', and will say the same thing here - the character of some of these athletes is pathetic, and especially how they obviously could care less.
And now it certainly appears that too much is tolerated because no one wants to rock the boat. When an athlete on scholarship admits to throwing punches and puts words on his facebook that we've all now read, is there anything else needed to justify a suspension?

KU coach Self disappointed with feud
People can tell me to get off my high horse too, but sorry - the character of some of these guys is pathetic, and especially how they obviously could care less.
And now it seems like KU officials are just tolerating all this crap and attitude, and for what? Oh yeah... winning... kind of sounds like the corporate america mindset of 'as long as it contributes to making a profit, that is all that matters'.
It's amazing that no immediate discipline is being served... almost as amazing that an athlete on scholarship at KU didn't blink an eye at posting the things he did on his facebook page. But then again they are all 'winners', so why be bothered by all this, eh? Whatever...
