Wildcats fired up

What about the KSU fans storming the field in Memorial Stadium in 1994 after beating KU for the first time in Lawrence since 1969 and tearing down KU's goal posts? I don't recall Bill Synder making any attempts to stop his own fans from such disrespectful behavior and vandalism. And worse yet, no KU students did a thing about it.

Yankee Bowl likely to have Big 12 ties

I hope the Big 12 does not link up with the Yankee Bowl because the allure of a bowl for many people is being able to go to a warm weather location. If Yankee Stadium had a dome it might help, but I still wouldn't go to a bowl game there. Let's affiliate with a more interesting bowl.

KU recruit Woolridge to kick off Invitational

I sounds like Barnes is smart enough to see through that "Hilton Magic" B.S.

Final answer? KU

It's a relief to realize that the Henry brothers ended up where they apparently wanted to be all along. As talented as X is, I am more intrigued by C.J. Henry and what he brings to KU in terms of maturity and continuity. He will likely play for three years at KU and will develop into a solid experienced player that will help us in many ways down the line. An occasional one and done player is OK, but the great KU teams were those dominated by seasoned players who grew into mentally tough players capable of making plays and good court decisions.

Speaking of good court decisions, I hope Tyshawn and the Morris twins make a quantum leap in that department between their freshmam and sophomore years. Otherwise we may see more of the new players getting a shot at playing time. In any event, the competition should make for a positive situation. I would expect that the good chemistry among the players will continue under Bill's leadership. Playing in an environment with so much basketball pride, fan support, and traditiion really is an intangible that most other programs don't have or understand. The passion and the dedication of the fans to the sport make the game a "we" not an "I" feeling and the players tend to adopt that attribute in their approach to the game. We have also had some great coaches lately that still believe in the team approach and preach that philosophy. I would never be so bold as to predict another national championship for next season because it is so difficult to achieve. It takes players, momentum, and some luck to pull it off. I do think all of the parts are in place to make a run at it.

But before we enjoy basketball, we have some fantastic football to savor. Rock Chalk!!

Collins, Aldrich announce plans to return to KU next season

I agree with NH_JHawk. It's great to see the loyalty of Cole and Sherron to the program and I think they should have a stong chance for the Final Four but it's no guarantee. I still am haunted by the great team of 1996-97 that had more than enough firepower to win it all. They were ranked #1 virtually all season long and got nipped by a young Arizona team that beat three #1 seeds to win it all. Who knew that Jerod's broken wrist would prevent him playing that game. A healthy Jerod and we probably would have contained the Arizona guards enough to win and move on.

Let's look forward to next year, but be realistic enough to know if takes great players, depth, momentum, and usuallly a little luck to pull it off. Having said that, I sure think we have as good a shot as anybody.

Wesley original nomad

Walt Wesley played center and was a scoring machine with a soft unstoppable fadeaway jump shot. He wasn't as athletic as today's players but he could shoot the ball much better especially from mid-range. I believe during part of his career the dunk was illegal so he shot his way to All America status. He had a nice supporting cast which made KU a national power. Fact is, KU should have been the National Champs except they took away Jo Jo White's long jumper from the side that would have beaten Texas Western. Texas Western went on to win it all. I have had a couple of opportunities to meet Walt in person and he truly is a gentle giant. He was always gracious and accommodating.

Missouri slides into title game

I don't like the idea of Missouri winning this tournament any more than anyone else. But to me this tournament is meaningless unless you aren't good enough to get invited to the big dance on your own merits throughout the league season.

Why some people get so excited about this money making hoax of a tournament is beyond me. Playing a rigorous 16 game league schedule is the most meaningful and satisfying measure. If you can win the Big 12 post season tournament as well, then so be it, but I don't see any upside. You wear yourself out for nothing or run the risk of an injury to someone, and with the exception of this year, the committee has virtually already got the bracket made out before the Big 12 championship game is concluded. My only conclusion is "Go Bears"
