FINAL: KU defeats UMKC, 71-56

Oh come on everybody, you all knew this was going to be a roller coaster ride when you came into the amusement park. We are going to see wild ups and downs from game to game, half to half, heck, play to play.

The one constant to remember is that Coach Bill and Coach Danny will ride these kids hard to get with the program. The ability is definitely there, the execution is a work in process, the results will eventually come.

The biggest hurdle on us the fans part is ourselves. The forty two plus years I have been a Jayhawk, patience with less than stellar basketball has never been my strong suit.....by the tone of the posts, I am not alone.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. You are truly right.

Hey Wilbur, Seymour Nersdley here and the previous poster said the two magic words CHRIS PIPER. The sooner he takes over , the better.

How are things on the Left Coast?

Thrown for a loss

REASONS WE BEAT MU:
1] Mizzou complacent and over confident.
2] Mizzou looking past KU toward Big 12 Championship game
3] Everybody on KU gets healthy with the two week layoff.
4] The secondary and special teams learn how to tackle with extra practice.
5] We seek total revenge for last year's screw job.
6} MU SUCKS!!!

REASONS WE DON'T BEAT MU:
1] Mizzou understands how dangerous KU can be.
2] The heated rivalry overcomes any thoughts of taking us lighty...they vow to humiliate us.
3]Everyone on MU gets healthy.
4]The tackling DOESN'T improve.
5]KU loses focus seeking revenge for last years loss.
6]We lose but MU STILL SUCKS!!!

Not that I could really knock anything about Bob Davies but on a national level he is a pedestrian play by play guy at best. He benefitted by comparision being teamed up with Max Falkenstien, the poster child for the Peter Principle.

What I do like about Bob is that he is unabashed "homer" and lives and dies with the Hawks. The heck with the cool, calm professional approach; give me a guy who cares. You know what, maybe he's not so bad after all. And you have to admit, MAX was very "unique"!!!

Snaer chooses Florida State

NH_JHawk

Nice pick up....I thought I was the only one on this blog old enough to actually have seen the Beatles live much less remember each record as they came out.

And dougmd makes a great point...all we got is Rivals.com and the like to use for recruiting references. That probably totals 10% of what true networking is going on with Coach Self and his Staff.

PS I am sorry to say, but I fear Texas may set an NCAA passing record against the Hawks today unless the temperature drops to 20 below, the skies fill with locusts and several hundred topless supermodels parade around the track during the game. HMMM, now that would be a game!!!

Snaer chooses Florida State

"Just saw the news today, oh boy".....from my previous post, Snaer to FSU, Henry to Memphis, Wall to Baylor/NC State, Stephenson to Europe/St.John's which leaves Dominic Cheek with which KU has to contend with Rutgers, 'Nova, Pitt and Memphis.

If I am a high school guard I see KU next year with potentially two senior guards, a hot shot frosh guard and a whole bunch of guards in between. I'm not saying that Mr.Cheek will not pick KU but I am saying that all of you better prepare yourselves for the possibility that KU is done for 2009.

That being said, none of these gentlemen not named Snaer has eliminated KU either and 17 and 18 year olds are capable of incredible wisdom or incredible folly. All we can do is wait and see.

Let's enjoy the guys we got and let the rest of the chips fall where they may. [Crap, if I use one more cliche, I'll have to change my name to Keagan!!]

Snaer to announce on ESPNU on Friday; Self happy with new signee Robinson

Jaybate

Are you my old Stephenson Hall, KU dorm buddy, the now famous Bill James??? Like he, your analysii border on doctorate thesis quality. Your comments on rebounding reminded me of a conversation we had 40 years ago whereby he rationalized that rebounding was putting order to the random motion theory, and, like 40 years ago I didn't understand a word he said either.

PS That's a complement, dude.

Thanks, I totally forgot about CHEEK who has the buddy connection to the squad already. Yes, absolutely. Cheek, Johnson and Robinson would be a heck of a recruiting class!!!

Snaer to announce on ESPNU on Friday; Self happy with new signee Robinson

I've been a Jayhawk since 1966 and have lived and breathed Hawk basketball, but does anyone beside me see the possibility that KU may come in a strong second with all these kids?

WALL - The rumors are true and his Mom guides him to Baylor
HENRY - All the reasons for Memphis have been repeated ad nauseum.
SNAER - Featured role and total PT at Florida State for the 2009/10 season.
STEPHENSON - Big City kid needs Big City lights and ends up staying at home at St.Johns.

For all the talk and posts and theories and "inside info",I am getting a sick feeling that KU is going to be shut out of these kids. Not that we're hurting with Mr.Johnson and Mr.Robinson in the house, but one of these guys would have put us over the top.

Please, please, please any of you bloggers out there ease my woes.

Big 12 basketball players predict the conference champion

Second thoughts on Xavier Henry.

Something has been nagging at the back of my mind regarding X and I just realized that it was that the timing for his recruitment announcement was being chosen to best suit ESPN.

I know, I know, in this age of media celebrity and exposure, he is just doing what anyone else of his athletic noteriety would do and it certainly doesn't detract from his quality as an athlete or as a young man
but for some unknown reason it doesn't feel quite "KU right". The whole press conference with the cheesy hat selection ritual is almost demeaning. [Of course, if he puts on the Jayhawk hat, the ritual may appear to be just fine.]

Still, something about Snaer really intrigues me. I have always been a pretty good judge of character and I think Snaer would be a monster in Crimson and Blue.

Just a quick story..due to a family obligation, I had to spend Homecoming Weekend in Columbia at good ole Mizzou. I was in the bookstore just suffering when I came across a MIZZOU Hoodie...in KU BLUE. I bought that sucker, had a KU Crimson Red Circle/Slash symbol put over the lettering and now have a precious memory of my visit....NICE!!!
