Upset squared

jman, I could not have said it any better myself. Brandon is a great spot shooter, but he can not create his own shot off a screen or on his own. Besides the fact that he has no left hand and can only dribble twice before he gives up the ball. Don't believe me, watch the next time we play. All he has to do is pull up off the screens (he did it one time yesterday and made a 12 footer). That is there all day when we execute it. But instead he shoots the puss boy floaters, which he never makes. How many of those did he miss yesterday? To play in the league, if you can't create your own, you're a pine rider.

okiedave, no one is looking for perfection, but to turn the ball over 21 times you will lose to Saint Mary of the Plains. Giving up 21 possesions is simply not acceptable. I agree with you that OSU wanted it more. They knew they could penetrate and we could not stop it. Don't think that every team from this point on won't use it against us. Mediocre guards (aka KSU)are going to the hole against us, and that simply can not happen.

I agree with you dragonheart. When you play in your conference, those teams know your tendencies. Execution is vital for these games and the way we play without desire and emotion this late in the season only indicates that lack of leadership. The next "Bucknell" is waiting around the next corner. Instead of playing to our opponents level, we need to dictate the game to our strengths and capabilities. Take care of the damn ball !!!!!!

Well melrank, if ands and buts were candy and nuts..... you know the rest. The game shoud never have come down to a 3 from the corner. If we take care of the basketball, this game is not even close. I have watched this team all year and from the get go we try for the spectacular instead of doing the little things that win ball games. We can not stop the opposing guards from penetrating and yesterday's game expolited that fact. This causes major problems for our bigs. I'm tired of hearing that Brandon decided to step up in the second half and if we could only keep Darrell on the floor...etc. Neither of these guys have a passion, if you don't believe me watch their expressions after a foul or turnover. Brandon's hands are weak (aka Eric Chenowith) he gets stripped all the time and Darrell is simply not strong enough. He still commits stupid fouls, but that may have alot to do with the fact that we can not stop penetration. The bottom line is simple, take care of the basketball and play with emotion and passion and do the "little things".

Brother says Rush tore ACL

When I first heard the news that BR was coming back I was very sceptical. Now I know why. I'm sorry that this happened B, maybe there is a reason for it. I personally feel you will benefit from this by being able to work on your ball handling skills, for we all know the you need work on your left hand (ask the NBA). Also, having Danny Manning around you during your rehab will be a blessing. You know what he went through, so having him there to push you will help. Get well, work hard on your rehab, and welcome back. I'll see you next year when you come to SoCal to play SC.

Kansas basketball notebook

I agree with you Machawk, typical KSU. Now about the game. We did not play well and still beat them in their barn. The intensity level was amazing. This was KSU biggest game of the year and we spanked them. If you would have told me that we would have over 20 turnovers and have our typical freethrow shooting night, (what were we 16 of 29 ro something like that) and we still win by 9, I would have told you "no way". But we flat "D'd" up and Sherron was the man last night. I'm glad that we can play "thug" ball when we have to. The "bigs" were huge last night, especially Authur. Screw Huggins and I can't wait till we see them in the Big 12 tournament so we can spank them again.

Good job HAWKS.

Rival revival

MR Huggins will have his team ready tonight, don't think he won't. He uses the toughness of his players to get under the skin of his opponents. Trust me he coaches the "thug" mentality. Our big guys have to dominate tonight in order to win. We can not be shooting dinky lay ups when we are two feet from the goal. We need to tear the rim down tonight, especially Kahn and Authur. Take the ball to the hole with authority for the Wildcats will be vulnerable around the hole. Show no mercy tonight HAWKS for you will receive non from Huggins. Granted, this is not our biggest rivalry (that belongs to MU) but Huggins will use it to motivate his team tonight because we think this not a rivalry game. Huggins is a master motivator and his thugs will do whatever he says. We need to exploit this by taking care of the ball on every possesion tonight and rebound on both ends of the floor, and for gods sake, make some freethrows.

Creamed corn

The defense in the first half was outstanding and we actually made some outside jumpers. Darrell has to play better for this team to go deep in the tourney. He does not look like the same player as he was early on, of course we weren't playing anybody either (except Florida). He needs more touches, but we have to look for him too. Our defense will get us possessions and we must capitalize on those. We are still too loose with the ball. Wright said it best, if this team takes care of the basketball, we will succeed. Nice job last night Hawks, now get ready for a team that can play some "D". Sasha, you have to be the man on Saturday. Your 7' tall, when you get the ball a foot away from the goal, tear the damn thing down. It's time for you to be a "beast".

Bracing for boos

Darrell, let's not try and impress everybody tonight. They all know you can play and so do we, so stay in the framework of your team and let's walk away with a hard fought victory. We are all glad you chose to play for the HAWKS. Forget the boo's, and play hard and smart.

GO HAWKS
