Jayhawk Flashback: Mark Mangino's introductory speeches and Texas, 11/13/2004
I like the last quote from the article regarding coach's weight:
"It's not what you look like. It's how you work and how you do your job."
This article was written how many years before scholarships to Reesing, Sharp, McAnderson, etc. were given?

The Mike-Rivera-Signs-With-Chicago Blog
Looks like Mighty Joe may have been picked up as well but the backwards Raiders don't make those acquisitions public. Bust of luck to all the 'Hawks moving on.

Antler attack
Puggy - Did you ask him if his master's degree from Missouri prepared him well for his career as a doorman.

KU football future looks bright
It is going to be a long 9 months waiting to see what KU does next year. I am also very optimistic about what they might be capable of. I think a birth in the conf. champ. game will hinge on the play of the lines. KU will be able to score with anyone if the O line is even decent, which I think they will be. Moving Hatch back inside would seem to be a good idea. Spikes, Leuken, Hatch, Throrson is a good starting point. If the two juco's coming in are playmakers on the d-line next year will be very bright indeed. A 6-6 245 pound DE known for being a pass rusher is very exciting to me. Haven't seen that come into Lawrence since I don't know when. Just having one guy consistently getting pressure up field would be huge, let alone seeing Laptad, Johnson, Greene continue to grow into that role. I think you know what you have in Blakesley, he's a plugger and a good run stopper, Parrish behind him looks to be in the same mold. Getting playmakers around them will be key. I am not overly concerned as far as the LB's. I think Wright, Springer, Dudley, Lewis, Schermer, Quigley whoever can be coached up and have enough talent to come in and not be a detriment to the D. I'm already itching for 09 - big 12 north and a 10+ win season is very realistic.bc

What could've been...
I think one of the guys I was most excited about once I saw him was Luke Axtell, I don't know how much of an NBA future he ever really had but watching him at Texas and waiting on him, I was very intrigued. Another guys bit by the injury bug.
