Gary Bedore’s KU basketball notebook

I am rooting for Michigan State tonight. Mainly because of my bracket, but hey...they knocked KU off this year, so it's always best if the team you lost to in the tourney ended up winning it all, right?? I mean...they couldn't beat them that year...but guess what... NOBODY could!

Go Spartans!

FINAL: Bison have no answer for Aldrich in KU's 84-74 victory; Jayhawks to meet Dayton Flyers Sunday afternoon

gritty win!! Big thanks out to the big dogs, Sherron and Cole for leading the way. Also, nice clutch 3-pointer Brady...we really needed that!!!

LET'S GO KU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pritchard's first mistake as GM hasn't knocked Portland off course

MJ also NEVER lost an NBA Finals series. He was a perfect 6-6. That is something that these players can NEVER say:Wilt (lost 4 times with Lakers, Sixers, and S.F. Warriors)Magic (lost 4 times to 4 different teams: Celtics, Bulls, Pistons, Sixers)Kareem (lost 3 times with Lakers, lost once with Bucks)Bird (lost twice to the Lakers)Oscar Robertson (lost to Celtics in 73-74)Bill Russell (lost in 57-58 to St. Louis Hawks)...OOPS, njjayhawk...that's EVERYONE on your list....ouch!!and the present...Shaq (Lost with Magic and Lakers)Kobe (Lost twice)LeBron (Got swept against Spurs)...was Jordan also the beneficiary of marketing genius: of course. But he was EVEN BETTER than the hype predicted. He DID also win the NCAA title, afterall. He destroyed the notion that a prolific scorer couldn't also be a team leader. Not too mention his tenacious defense. People hate on Jordan ONLY because they want to swim against the current. Be unique, etc. It's really that simple...

Morningstar, Reed help save day

hahaha. Not that it matters, but either route from Lawrence to Lincoln is just a little over 3 hours. However, taking the 4-state path literally puts MORE MILES on your vehicle, but you can drive much faster the whole time on the Interstate. etc. If you take the HWY 75 route, there is one stretch of road that is only 55 mph.Now...back to basketball, shall we?? sheesh...

Pesky, scrappy Huskers await Kansas today

I was in the the arena in Lincoln when Nebraska beat Missouri a few weekends ago. This Nebraska team is TINY...Cole and the twins will need to come ready to rebound, box out, and NOT FOUL!!! It would be like shooting yourself in the foot!Forget Ryan Anderson...KU needs to make sure Ade Dagunduro doesn't find HIS rhythm. When his floater is falling and his confidence gets boosted (this is in Lincoln, mind you) he starts running all over the floor like a madman...then he draws the double, then he kicks it out to one of those open 3-point shooters. This game is no gimme...but then again, I was born and raised in Nebraska then moved to Lawrence 5 years ago. I cheer Jayhawks #1 and Huskers #2...so I might be a little biased!

Big 12 basketball players predict the conference MVP

Leo Lyons??? Are you KIDDING me?? Dude is a big oaf who should be playing football instead. I don't even know how the guy gets playing time...hilarious...If the hype is correct, then it will be Blake Griffin in a landslide. A.J. Abrams is horribly overrated, fyi.
