‘What if ... ’: Jayhawks ponder what could have been

Really? It echoed my thoughts exactly during and after the game.. .what if we'd have had one of the best players in the country at full strength and on the court. I doubt seriously we'd have lost to Standford. Might not have got too much further but a darn good chance we win that game.

Arch sadness: KU's season ends in St. Louis, in round of 32

Yes to all, and one last thing... Thanks to handful of consistent and knowledgeable posters (like you and Suzi) that kept me coming back to this forum each week since November. I really enjoyed your insights and well balanced posts - not sugar coating but not doom and gloom either. Hope to see you around the boards again next fall.

Curtain call: Traylor, Kansas face big test of brawn, brain

Thanks for the warm fuzzy memories Russ, I had forgotten about the Dickie V and Collison one. Man, I like being a fan of this team.

Column: KU needs to keep up its dunking ways

Definitely love all our dunks, but I'd like a side helping of some three's as well this game (at least one or two??). One of the big stats from the Syrexcuse loss yesterday - orangies were 0 for 10 from three while Dayton was 7 for 16.

I know, I know, a little late in the year to wish for a good 3pt threat, but still, how fun that would be (and how many more ferocious dunks would it open up inside) if somebody got a hot hand from outside today and it just started raining treys? I get such a kick out of watching replays of how excited our bench gets when eye popping plays (like that amazing Black slam).

And I know this is a team that usually fights and claws out wins, but again, I sure wouldn't mind an explosive blowout to make a statement for the next round. Then add in the sprinkle on the cake by getting the big man back in the lineup on top of that and you'd have a pretty nervous foe next round. Yea, yea, I know, I don't predict a blowout over Stanford, maybe not even a win... but it warms my heart to daydream about it.

Aww, Bryce... disgusted? I mean I yell at my tv at the bonehead plays, I go into funks after we lose, I cursed the coach when he keeps putting in tharpe after the pg shows how much trouble he has running our O and playing any kind of D. And I too would be be very disappointed if we lose today, because have all the tools to win like Standford not knowing just how good Wiggins is and our new secret (not so secret now maybe) weapon Connor.

But, even if they play tharpe, and we make lots of turnovers and no 3s and we lose and I yell at my tv and i get all depressed for the afternoon - at the end of the day, these kids and their coach gave me a helluva a ride this year. They played some amazing ball again, kept up our string of conference championships again, made the big dance again, met my personal goal of not getting embarrassed in the first round again, and as a bonus, many of the teams I really like to see not do well, Mizlose, Puke, Syrexcuse, etc, are all done for the year while we get to suit up again today.

I know this a open board and everyone is free to speak their minds, and I can relate to wanting only the very best for this team... but it would be very very hard for this team to do anything today that would erase all the really cool things they gave me this year and disgust me.

Here's to breaking out our weapons of mass destruction today to keep dancing!

Eastern Kentucky eager for Kansas matchup with or without Embiid

While I'm a little nervous about their 3 point shooters, they should be a LOT more nervous about us.. with or without Embiid.

Check out this short espn clip on Mr. Wiggins' freaky athleticism.. really looking forward to him going into beast mode at the dance.

Jayhawks not counting on another McMiracle vs. ISU

Interesting little piece comparing our hawks this year to 2011-12 UK freshman team. Let's hope history repeats itself... except for the part about sucking so bad the next year you don't make the big dance at all (as a KU fan, Kentucky going to the NIT was just all covered in awesomesauce)

Yep, I'd like to kick out the all the politicians too, but as you point out, you'd still have all the lobby groups which is where much of the real power is. In fact, with a bunch of newbies, they'd likely get even more powerful.

Hey, I just got sucked into talking politics here too! If Brett hadn't gone off on Suzi's quite benign post I doubt we'd be still be talkin about it. :)

Really stoked for tonights game and wondering if the refs are going to be looking for the floppers. Like Self, I don't mind selling now and then but wow, there is some major bad acting going on lately by some of our opponents.

Four in a row: Kansas pulls off rare feat vs. ranked foes

Wow, that was a great game to watch. And it looked like they were having fun too = per Self's recent advice. I kept waiting for a breakout game by Wiggins and admit to being disappointed when he didn't have one. But I loved how he shut down Haslip though.

Then I looked at his points at the end of the game and was amazed to see he led the team with 17 on top of seven rebounds. I thought when the heck did that happen? Then I read this article on him at fox sports and it really put things in perspective as far as expectations go. For me it's dead on - no more critical judging the guy for me. Like the writer of the article, I'm just going to enjoy him while he's here. Here's the link for anyone interested ( http://msn.foxsports.com/college-bask... )

And when did my hawks become a 26 of 29 free throw shooting team??? I can't remember how many times I've sworn at the tv watching them lose games by tossing bricks from the only position you know you're going to get to shoot from. Like the McD's tag line "I'm lovin it!" What a fun big dance this is going to be!

Self, KU prep for evenly matched battle with Michigan

Its time to show the all the media talking heads that we are a number one seed for a reason.

Lots of respect for Michigan and their coach, including mine, but thought I'd poke a little fun at the team that is going to lose Friday...

Q. What does the average Michigan player get on his/her SAT?
A. Drool.

Q. Why doesn't Ohio slide off into the Ohio River?
A. Because Michigan SUCKS.

Q. What do you tell the U of M cheerleader to pick her up after she smiles at you?
A. Nice tooth, babe.

Q. Why did they change the playing field at "The Big House" to cardboard?
A. Because Michigan has always looked better on paper.

Q. What do you say to a Michigan Wolverine in a three piece suit?
A. Will the defendant please rise.

A guy in a bar leans over to the guy next to him and says, "Wanna hear a
Michigan joke?" The guy next to him replies, "Well before you tell that
joke, you should know something. I'm 6' tall, 200 lbs., and I am a Michigan
alumnus. The guy sitting next to me is 6'2 tall, weighs 225, and he's a
Michigan alumnus. The fella next to him is 6'5 tall, weighs 250, and he's a
Michigan alumnus. Now, you still wanna tell that joke?" The first guy says,
"Nah, not if I'm gonna have to explain it 3 times."
