Ryan Wood's KU football notebook
"I want the Cotton Bowl. There is no way I will root for Mizzery just so we can play in the Fiesta Bowl."
-wcormode
The day KU fans get this attitude is the day we become like K-State fans. K-state fans would rather live to see us lose than their team win. That is pathetic. I hate mizzou as much as anyone, but we need them to win to get to the best bowl possible. A chance at a BCS bowl, are you kidding??!! Think if someone would've said that at the beginning of the season! I'm gonna cheer to get KU the best possible outcome, not just to see mizzou lose. Rock Chalk, always.

Reesing takes blame
Just an update before the full story comes out....KU is 5th in the BCS. In Mizzou slaughters OU, which I think they will, KU should get a BCS bowl.

Commentary: Rush, Afflalo should cash in soon
Ok everyone, maybe I'm the only one that's figured it out, but APD is just trying to piss everyone off. He has like half the posts on this page. Quit responding to him. For all the true KU fans, lets lick our wounds and get ready for some hawk football. O yeah, and also let's pray Brandon stays for next year. I don't feel he is ready, and I think he knows that. Plus, I think he's enjoying college more than most people think.... I think he'll be back!

APDJayhawk:
I didn't realize being a fan went hand in hand with being realistic. Call me crazy, but I always thought a fan was supposed to be optimistic (although I have never actually met a KSU fan who has been, once they lose, they start bashing their team and start hollering for a new coach). I'm not sure where my ridiculous misconception of a fan came from, but thanks for clearing it up. I'm liking the idea of accepting mediocrity in the postseason, good thinking. Let's just stop going to the games (like OU fans) and start booing our own team (like KSU fans). Let's start websites like firebillself.com (like Mizzou fans) and give Dick Vitale a reason to stop calling Allen Fieldhouse the best place to play in the country....
APDJayhawk, you are an idiot. You may be a legitimate Jayhawk fan, but your the kind of fan that cheers for KSU, OU, and Mizzou. Your the kind of fan that probably turned your TV off at halftime during both Texas games. Your the kind of fan no Jayhawk wants to associate with. It's good to see some true Jayhawkers come on here and rip you.
Take the past six NCAA tournaments. KU has two first round losses. Yeah that's a fact, a fact we all would like to forget. But also consider four elite eights, two final fours, and a national championship game. That's a pretty solid resume, whether your KU, Texas, UNC, Kentucky, Duke, or UCLA. Take your pessimism back to Manhattan or Columbia, or wherever your dumbass is from, but for the rest of us KU fans, we'll continue bleeding crimson and blue and chanting Rock Chalk Jayhawk. Year in and year out, win or lose, we're the kind of fans that'll fill the stands.

Team unity paying off for Jayhawks
Jaybate, you need to take it easy. Yes our free throw shooting is bad, but talk about overanalyzing.... And I'm pretty sure Self has one or two tricks up his sleeve to teach free throw shooting, that's why he is a D I coach and not you... Who said they only shot at the end of practice anyway? For all you know they're doin everything you guys mentioned, and some....
As far as seeding goes, I'm with jazzttt, let's just get past the Big XII tourney and stay healthy for now. The difference between the 1 and 2 seed is small, so do not worry about it. The only argument there is that there is more pressure on a number 1 seed. A 3 seed or higher is dangerous with so many outstanding mid-majors this year. My opinion, as long as KU wins their first two games (probably against OU and Tech) they'll get a number one seed. UCLA and Florida are in bigger danger of losing their no. 1 seed than we are. But for now, let's just focus on the Big XII tourney

Morning madness
Also Jeff Withey a 7ft junior will be visiting during Late Night. We need to get as many recruits as possible to late night. It's a great recruiting tool, especially since KU has one of the best Late Nights in the country.

Talkative Talib gives KU immediate spark
Ok, right after I wrote that, I read an article that said it was a running play. I assume it was called for Meier, but I'm not sure. But I still feel it was a bad call. Don't try to be clever, don't try to be fancy, just give the ball to Cornish. That game should have been ours...

No, it wasn't a run play in OT. It was play action. That's why Cornish didn't try to dive on the ball, he wasn't supposed to have it. He didn't even notice the fumble, he just carried out the fake. Take a look at the replay...
Your right, our run game was set up by our passing game. But Scott Webb can kick a 42 yard field goal. So why risk putting the ball in the air (we did fumble, but it was on play action). So any yards we can gain on first, second, and third down is a bonus. We need to trust Webb, we had that game won in the first overtime.

Keegan: Dickie V, Fraschilla impressed
You guys are wrong about Julian. He will be our most important threat on the inside. You talk about beating the zone by passing rather than dribbling, which is exactly what Julian will do at the four spot.
If we can get either Gibson or Tucker in foul trouble, we can win this game. Texas is not deep enough to play with us.
