Column: Risks and rewards come with true freshman QB Ryan Willis

We have a QB who will be a first day draft pick, some day. When was the last time we could say that?!

KU commitment Ke'aun Kinner named first-team juco All-American

Getting these juco guys here at semester is huge. Love how Beaty and Co. are doing it the right way! Kinner was also Class 4A All State in TX his Sr year in HS

Juco RB Kinner picks Kansas

Would much rather have BYU and Tulane; 2 academically reputable schools.
This is going to sound condescending, but NIU does not belong in the same conference as us. I've lived in Chicago most my life, we can do better.

Busy week for Beaty produces lengthy list of visitors for big recruiting weekend

Love seeing Beaty's connections pay off. The HS coaches in TX that Beaty's been friends with for years are giving him the heads up on some under the radar guys.

Not sure how many 4 star caliber guys we will be in the hunt for this late in the game but with time and progress, I bet that changes.

KU confirms hire of David Beaty as new football coach

I'm with you Doug, love the hire. We need a guy who has the energy, passion and blend of toughness and love that players will respond to.

Some of these comments are so laughable. Beaty is very well connected; I am sure he will assemble a great staff. Dallas Morning News voted him the best recruiter in Dallas; this was polled by the HS coaches in the area,. Jayhawkslant also confirmed that several Dallas HS coaches would steer recruits his way.

In regards to people dismissing the fact that he can out recruit other schools; he's been doing it for years (go ahead, insert part about how A&M is easier to recruit to) . He's also learned under some pretty impressive coaches like Mangino and Todd Graham (ASU HC).

In one season as OC at Rice they went from the 100's to 50's, besides Sonny Cumbie as OC at TCU this year; please tell me who else has done that in the past 10 years?

And as I mentioned before, he coached numerous 3 star guys into All American WR's and Biletnikoff finalists.

Is it a risk? Of course it is but what candidate that we were eligible for wasn't??

For those clamoring for Warriner- sure he would have been solid but he was passed over by Army- twice, even as he was a long time assistant.

Many believe he can flip the roster with talent the quickest; time to get behind him and Bowen as DC!! Rock Chalk!!

Coaching Search 2014: David Beaty emerges as leading candidate; hire could come soon

He has developed NFL record breaking WRs at three separate schools (all hold records at three different schools). These were 3 star players he coached into All Americans.

Furthermore, in 1 season as OC at Rice; he took to them to being ranked in the 50's from the 100's. Pretty damn impressive.
