Glad to hear more people disgusted with all the artificial hoopla. Hopefully this will get back to the powers that be. Hate to bitch about these side issues because this was a really good performance by our leaders, Collins and Aldrich. Great game guys. Keep it up.

Home cookin’

I am glad to see NocalJayhawk's comment about the PA announcer. I thought maybe I was the only one who felt that way. I am sick and tired of this cr*p. Up until about 5 or 6 six years ago, the announcers were much more dignified. The goofyness started when they started using the announcer as a commercal with "Gaterade, is it in you"? I used to love it when the students would yell back "No" It got worse from there.

A lot of people get indignant about fans storming the court after a big win with the idea being we should expect to beat anyone we play anyway. To me this is just as bad. Real KU fans don't need some goofy announcer to fire them up. The reason for this is that they are trying to attract the casual fan who has more money than basketball intelligence.

Goofyness itself isn't bad but it doesn't need to come from the PA announcer. It should come from the student section. That is their specialty and they are very good at it.

I realize I am in the minority here but ready to receive criticism for my postion. At least one person out there feels the same way I do.

Colleague will be missed

There have been several outstanding sports writers for the Capitol Journal over the years but Pete Goering was one of the best. It's a pretty lousy paper otherwise but I always thought the TCJ had consistently better sports writers than any other paper-- in the midwest at least. They do a great job with local Colleges but no paper does a better job of covering HS sports throughout the state.

Self: Marcus deserved technical, not benching

easyfive, I agree Collins, for better or worse, should always be bringing the ball up the court for us but wondered if you were as pleasantly surprised as I was to see the success Reed had in bringing the ball up when he had to. I cringed the first several times thinking a turnover was coming but I don't think he ever made one, at least before the timeline.Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to sugarcoat this loss but there were a few things that encouraged me.

North teams carrying Big 12

I said at the beginning of the season that the Big 12 would be divided into three groups, 3 at the top, 3 at the bottom and six in the middle that could finish in any order between 4th and 9th. That is basically what it looks like now with a few exceptions. Texas had dropped from the top group to the middle group and Missouri has moved from the middle group to the top group although they will have a hard time staying there since they already have 2 losses.I agree the North is more competitive with the South this year but it still has the two worst teams in the league.

What Keegan says: Big 12 basketball

I agree with everyone's comments about coach Anderson except of course that of ttoulouse. The one hole in his game is that he hasn't ever signed top 50 type players but he certainly has done a good job, like Mangino in football, of taking lower rated players and making them better with his system. I don't think Missouri deserves him mainly because of the poor attendance in games other than against KU.I say the Tiggers should bring back Sutherland as coach. That would make things entertaining.

I would be willing to bet a great deal of money that the Morris twins will not be here 4 years from now-- one way or the other.Regarding the "accidental bump". This is tactic that is very common today, particularly with coachs and teams that like to physically intimidate their opposition. I am not sure but I think Norm Stewart started it. He had a guy they called Buck who did it all the time. During a lull in the action or right after a made basket, a player, usually a bruser, will act like he is just trying to get to a certain spot or head down court and he just "accidently" slams into a player from the opposing team who just happens to not seeing him coming. I think Morris learned this in Philidelphia and bumped the ref on instinct, without his brain clicking that this was a ref, not a player.Watch closely in the next game you see what happens right after a free throw, big play or other stop in the action and see how many times players "accidently" bump hard into another player. They act like they just didn't see the guy but it is never a guy from their own team.

Kansas basketball notebook

OK, Mr Glass Have Empty here is going to try and be a little positive for once. Here are some good things I saw in the game.1. I thought Releford played his best game as a Jayhawk. I hope he and Little continue to take minutes away from the twins.2. I thought Taylor did well for a freshman playing in his first game in Columbia. He did have a lot of turnovers but he will have less next time.3. Despite getting beat on all the time, Aldrich still got 15 rebounds.4. Little continued to improve5. Reed did as good of job as I've seen him perform in handling MU's pressure while bringing up the court for most of the game. I'm not going into the bad things. Everybody else has documented those and I can't argue with most of them but I think we still have a very good chance of going at least 12-4 in league and possible as good as 14-2.

KU tries new tactics in getting scalpers to stop selling basketball tickets

I don't like the agressive ticket scalpers either but you can bet the crackdown isn't because of customer complaints. The Athletic Department gestapo strikes again.
