Big 12 releases KU men's basketball conference schedule

Ugh ESPN. When does that waste of a TV contract end?

KU assistant Kurtis Townsend named top recruiter

Checking up on:The 80% stat -

1939 -2013 = 75 Final Fours

KU has reached 14 final fours = 19%

Adolf Rupp coached in 6 final fours, 2 of which involved Kansas = 18 = 24%

Dean Smith coached 11 final fours, 2 involving Kansas = 27 = 36%

If we add Williams as former coach + 3 =30 = 40%

If we add Calipari as former assistant +3 = 33 =44%

Let me know if I've missed any who made the final four, but 80% is clearly not accurate. Now, many great Ku alums have coached and many of those won Helms trophies or NAIA championships.

Super subs: A look at the best bench players in the Bill Self era

Collins was never Robinson. His best season was 07-08 when he played back-up. It helped he had 6 other guys who could play. I do agree his 07-08 season was top 5 among back ups. It helps when you play opposite better overall ball players.

I'd argue #1 Kaun in 08, Arthur 06-07, then Collins 07-08, Robinson, and then Graves.

Standing tall: A look at the top centers in the Bill Self era

It's a tough debate - Self hasn't had many successful TRUE centers - Withey, Aldrich & Kaun. That's it. Jackson and Kief were both Power Forwards forced to guard centers. With only three to pick from - Withey, Aldrich then Kaun. If we're lumping power forwards in - Simeon, Robinson, Withey, Jackson, Aldrich in that order.

As for a Self all time team? There's a reason we won in 08.

I'm sure I'll take shots from some of you but give me Russell at the helm. Best floor general Self's had since Illinois. The only real LEADER he's recruited. 2nd best their, lowest assist to turnover ratio among point guards - best at avoiding the trap - Tenacious court presence.
Super Mario @ 2
Rush @ 3
Simeon @ 4
Withey @ 5

Bench
Miles @ 1
McLemore @ 2
Marcus Morris @ 3
Robinson @ 4
Jackson @ 4 / 5

With additional spots:
Langford
Aldrich

Tyshawn Taylor likely to play Monday against Davidson

When did he play poorly? He had what, something like 11-13 assists in that game against Ohio State? Sure, he had 7 turnovers... that's a better ratio than Sherron Collins put up his entire Kansas career... and Bill rarely ever pulled him... even though he should have.

Big 12 lists 2012 teams; Missouri not among them

So their basis for moving is BBQ and AAU involvement?

I believe both Kansas and Texas are also in the AAU... and they both have BBQ.

Do you think Texas A&M should remain a part of the Big 12 conference?

Here we go again. Texas, Tech and A&M just need to get off the pot. Go to the PAC-10 and SEC and leave Kansas the hell alone.

I'd love to see the remaining Big 8 schools initiate talks with the Big East football schools. It'd be pretty sweet to have UCONN, Cincy, Louisville, Pitt, Rutgers, TCU, Syracuse, West Virginia, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, and South Florida in a massive power football/basketball conference. And if Iowa State or South Florida went elsewhere, I don't think anyone would blink an eye.

Is Texas A&M going to leave the Big 12 for the SEC?

Eh... Let them go. Frankly, the addition of the Texas schools was never a good decision. This will be the fourth time they've broken apart a conference. On the plus side, if Texas and A&M left for "greener pastures", Arkansas is almost guaranteed to leave the SEC... just so they don't have to be in a conference with Texas/Texas A&M again. They hate them more than we do.
