Column: Calipari system adds intrigue

This is for scouts. This is so Cal can say to his slew of one-and-dones that he recruits every year, "You won't get stuck on the bench, the scouts WILL see you play." That way no potential recruit will have to think, "Kentucky is already loaded with 6 potential All-Americans, I should go somewhere else to get more exposure before the draft."

Everyone plays. Exposure problem solved. Now he can recruit an entire roster of McDs and no one will complain that they aren't getting time to show in front of the scouts. There is no other good reason for this tactic.

Tyshawn Taylor sighting — and not in the D-League

How is that hold against Mario not blatantly obvious? Dirk got hammered by pure bad luck & bad timing. Looking at the angle and energy of the swing, if that had been intentional, it wouldn't have been a flagrant, it would have been an assault. It would have been a dude turning around and deciding, "I'm gonna break your face!" all of a sudden. Just didn't happen. Incidental contact. Call the foul and let it go.

Family Over Everything (except dunks)

That is just way too much fun. These are some fun, spectacular bits. Kills me that the twins are always playing together. Would YOU want to be stuck inbetween those two? Awesome to see TRob get a chance to show his court energy. Great feature, Nick.

Classic win: Ellis, Wiggins lift KU past Duke

Here's what I learned last night:

1. Jabari Parker is a beast, and will win Duke lots of games. Respect to a worthy foe.
2. We have more talent and ability than Duke. And (insert team name here).
3. Killer instinct - we haven't had it in a while, but we dang sure showed it last night, like shifting into top gear, after being neck and neck we suddenly just had MORE than Duke did.
4. Wayne Selden and Frank Mason don't want to just wait their turn in the Wiggins shadow. This should be obvious from their kicking a-- last night.
5. I want Brennan Greene to shoot more 3s.
6. I want Joel Embiid to get past his awkward phase, because when he does, it's gonna be awesome.
7. Ellis to Wiggins - is this going to become a new thing? Maybe a catchphrase for Bob Davis? If so, I'm in.
8. D--n it feels good to be a Jayhawk.

FINAL: Special teams highlight of KU's 31-14 victory over South Dakota

ESPN3 blacked it out in Western KS. I live near Great Bend, and it was "blacked out in your location".

Off the Beaten Plate: Wang Burger at the Wheel

Wow... not only Top 25, but actually #3?!? Then again, if you look at the criteria they used - proximity to campus, cheap drinks, outdoor areas, late night food, etc... I guess I can see this.

Cox Communications joins Jayhawk network

Unfortunately, as of last season, Cox subscribers within Kansas can NOT stream KU events on ESPN3. They are blacked out. P!$$ed me off to no end last year. Total horse$#!+ in my opinion, because Cox internet subscribers who didn't want to additionally get robbed for cable costs got screwed.
