KU's Sharp playing hurt
"...14 yards on seven carries in Saturday's 35-13 loss to Oklahoma, failing to record a rush for more than five yards.."
I must be losing it... I swear I saw Jake bust one for 50+ in our second or third drive...

KU football's top 10 surprise players
Good article! I'm surprised that Tharp didn't make this list. Considering this kid came out of nowhere to earn significant playing time as a true freshman, I'd say he's one of the pleasant surprises so far this year.

Keegan: Huskers won this one on lines
No offense, but I really don't like the poll for this article. We can't control who we don't have on the team anymore. Our outlook for this season may not look too promising, but you never know. Like they say...That's why they play the game. I'd rather look forward, not back. I'm excited about our team going forward. We have a lot of talented kids on RS who can make an impact next season, and with all the freshmen getting playing time this year we'll be more experienced. This year has been kind of a trial by fire for a lot of our guys. I think we're also a lot better than we played Saturday. I think too many of our young guys played to their age against Nebraska. I'm ready to move on and get working on a way to get after the Longhorns.

Beyond sweet
leikness-
I hear ya with having Russell on Curry, but personally I'd rather have him on Richards. Richards seems to be what makes Davidson go with his penetration, and he always knows exactly where Curry is on the court. Russ is so good with his on ball defense, I think it'd make it very difficult for Richards to find Curry. Especially if Mario, and his ability to read passes and screens better, is on Curry. As good as Russell is, I think sometimes he gets caught on screens when he's trying to chase a guy around.
Either way, I hope our defense is able to absolutely smother Davidson into frustration.

Detroit Rock City: KU headed North for Sweet 16 after 75-56 win over UNLV
I just LOVED how the zebras stood there with their whistles hanging out of their open mouthes just watching Love & Co. grope every aTm big man. I don't know how many fouls were just overlooked for UCLA. Love got to a couple of the blocks clean, but there were so many offensive rebounds that Davis or Jordan came up with while getting hacked that allowed Love to get to them. Terrible, that's at least 3 games that UCLA has been given.

Jayhawks hit the road to Omaha
Totally agree with how silly I thought it was for Creighton season ticket holders to get first rights. The most annoying thing is that it wasn't advertised around here at all. I live maybe 2 miles from the Qwest and was ready to pay for my tickets and before I knew it, they were sold out and I didn't even know there were any tickets on sale. One of my girlfriend's cousins is a Creighton booster who got his tickets and I might see if I can go with him Thursday.
For those of you coming, as said in the article, the Old Market is great. Omaha is huge on food and alcohol. There's tons of bars, bar&grills, and nice places to eat. If the weather's nice, our Zoo is great for the kids.
Also, does anyone know where the guys are staying? I would love to go down and be apart of some sort of welcome party for them.

Hello, goodbyes
Thanks a lot Ryan! It'll be great for all the Jayhawk fans who are not able to be at the game, myself included, to watch the speeches. It's going to be great to see these incredible seniors go out in style, like they deserve.

Home court kind to Tigers
I guess "Antlers" have to hold on to the one thing that they had going for them this year- their "ruling the gridiron". Though, I would assume that didn't turn out quite so well either, considering they got bent over by the Sooners AND the BCS. It probably doesn't help their pride at all knowing that Lawrence has had an excess of Oranges since January 3rd either. I guess that's what happens when you win a BCS bowl. Hahaha...
Anyway, hope the boys in Blue come ready to play tonight. It could turn into a real tough game if they aren't playing under control.
ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!!

Kansas basketball notebook
We're going to have a lot of length, size, and quickness next year to go along with play making and scoring abilities.
At 6'11" 240lbs, Aldrich will look really good with Markieff who is 6'10" and Marcus who is 6'8" on either side of him. Not to mention the next Darnell Jackson type player in Quintrill Thomas. Throw in 6'5'' stud JUCO scoring machine Mario Little and 6'5'' all-around play maker Travis Releford, and you have another outstanding group of kids.
I don't think any of them will have any problems with the style of play, as Self has always tried to play to the strengths of his guys. I mean, what coach doesn't want his guys to score a ton of points. As long as they move the ball to get the best look, I don't think it matters who scores the points. Self wants ALL of his guys to be aggressive and make an impact on the game, which naturally leads to more balanced scoring, and more importantly, better basketball.

Lesser lights shine
One addition should be made to the list:
FRESHMEN-
Whether it's Briscoe laying out for a catch, Harris doing an outstanding (not to mention very physical) job at corner, or Laptad's development on the line, the freshmen have done an outstanding job of stepping up and either making plays or doing an excellent job on scout teams to prepare the starters.
It seemed like every week I'd read an article about one of the freshmen doing this or that, or catching the attention of the coaches. That kind of effort is what's going to keep us rolling into next year and beyond.
