njjayhawk, Lebron is anything but a "ballhog," and he really is a team player. If the 8 assists per game aren't enough of an indication, then you should watch some of his games. He's a play-maker who sometimes gets criticized for not shooting enough.

Technically, CJ Giles was in the draft but no one took him.

"Ashmore alleged that Arthur benefited from improper grade changing multiple times in math classes throughout high school. "

I've seen this before. This is almost like the plot of the movie Billy Madison. I say that Arthur should just go back to school for a few weeks, starting with first grade. If that doesn't work out, then they can just finish with an academic decathlon.

Some late-first round teams are actually ideal to go to in the draft. A lot of those teams are good NOW but they may be on the brink of a rebuild. Simien was actually drafted onto the perfect team, considering that the Heat ended up playing a bunch of D-League players this year. His problem was that he couldn't stay healthy. It's a shame, but I still think he was lucky to land on a veteran team like the Heat.

Now, if you land on a team like New Orleans it might be a bit more difficult. Julian Wright entered that team at the right time, but I think it'd be hard to see any playing time as a late first-round pick on that team (and Julian Wright, who was a lottery pick for that team has only just now been able to really crack the lineup). They are young but they basically have their team set for the next few years.

jayhawkinatl, do you actually watch the NBA? I used to think the same thing before I started actually watching games. There are plenty of players like Kyle Korver (an alum from my school) who play in the NBA who don't exactly play "street ball."

Also, the "they don't call traveling" thing is way overstated. I think I see travels go uncalled in the NBA about as often as I see travels uncalled in the NCAA (and I think we can agree that refs miss travel calls on occasion in the NCAA).

Personally, I think it's a great thing that the Jayhawks are so well represented in the NBA, especially with Billy Thomas signing onto a one year contract with the Cavs recently.

On Rush, Arthur declare for 2008 NBA Draft

Posted on April 17 at 4:06 p.m.

jcsmith, Arthur and Rush will not get to play much during the actual NBA games, but I am sure that they will get to enjoy basketball in some form. They get to watch the best players in the world during the times that they don't get to play. And, in practice (and eventually if they work hard enough to make it, in real games), they get to play with the best players in the world. (Practice? I'm talking about practice?) It is probably not as much "fun" as college basketball for them, unless of course they get regular minutes in the NBA. But it is not a total sacrifice. Frankly, it is probably worth the money.

I think you can have a genuine love for the game AND still decide to enter the NBA early knowing that you will sit on the bench for the first couple of years.

Plus, they won't have to go to class and do homework any more which means they can completely focus on basketball all of the time. Maybe I am cynical, but some how I doubt that very many NBA prospects really enjoy having to go to class and take tests to continue playing.

Also of note...

Because the trade left the Cavs so short-handed for tonight's game, they went ahead and signed Billy Thomas from the D-League. Who would have thought that another Jayhawk would be involved with this trade?

On Cavs send Gooden to Bulls

Posted on February 22 at 12:42 p.m.

That is not a meaningless shuffle.

Cleveland just replaced guard Larry Hughes, a guy who has not been consistent at shooting the three, with Wally Szczerbiak who shoots the three at over forty percent. Given the fact that Lebron James is probably the best in the game at getting to the basket and finishing, it is more important that Cleveland surround him with sharp-shooters than with players like Hughes.

Delonte West also will have a bigger role in Cleveland than he did in Seattle.

Not to mention the fact that Ben Wallace swapped for Drew Gooden is not even a "shuffle of mid-level turds." Wallace is considered a star caliber defensive player, and many people think he has just been in the wrong situation this year with Chicago. Chicago, by adding Drew Gooden, gets a big guy with some scoring ability to go with the defensively minded Joakim Noah.

From what I've read, Seattle made this trade for financial reasons. I don't really know how the trade exception works so I won't comment on it.

This is an awesome trade for the Cavs, and a good trade for the two non-contenders. When you have Lebron James, you really don't need anything other than solid role players who can shoot. Cleveland made this deal without losing Daniel Gibson and Big Z, both of whom are probably the best offensive compliments to James on a consistent basis (Hughes can score 40 points in one game, but then fail to reach 10 points in the next 20 games).

Gibson will continue to develop, but he's not ready to run the offense. They need a good point guard now. I mean, I know it's a young team and their star is even one of the youngest, but they were in the finals last year. It's time to try to find that guy who can take them to the next level. When you're in the finals and return all of your players, it's time to think about next year instead of the long-term.

On Gooden to be traded?

I don't know if the San Antonio Spurs fundamental play caused the bad ratings. Considering that the other team in the series has a very exciting individual (LeBron James... and Drew Gooden), I think it had more to do with the fact that the series was lob-sided. No one picked the Cavs to win. That really drains the excitement out of the series, more so than fundamental basketball.

As someone else mentioned, the lack of a big-market team also could have had an effect on ratings.
