If you can't handle criticism in the paper, then you are NOT ready to go pro.

Handicapping the field for 2009-10
Your point about Orlando is correct. The Cavs lost to a better TEAM. However, how could you possibly say that Miami, as it stands right now, has a better team than Cleveland? Are you kidding me?
Miami isn't like Orlando. Orlando has three big time players right now (four with Jameer Nelson). Dwight Howard is All NBA. Rashard Lewis is overpaid with his 110 million dollar contract, but he is an all-star caliber player who can shoot from outside or score in the post. Turgolu is a versatile small forward with a penchant for playing big in the fourth quarter. Jameer Nelson is another all star, though he is injured.
You say that the Cavs are a one player team (or imply that). Then you claim the Heat has a better team. However, the problem is that for some reason you don't think Delonte West, Mo Williams, Big Z, and Varajao are a good team... yet you think Jermaine "The Drain" O'Neal, Jamario Moon, Udonis Haslem, Michael Beasley and Mario Chalmers are better? I agree Chalmers and Beasley will get better. I don't know if Chalmers will ever be an NBA all-star, though.. and I am pretty sure he won't be next year. To me, his upside potential will be similar to Kirk Hinrich (which is definitely not a bad thing).
Only a strong KU bias could lead a person to say that Mario Chalmers will be better next year than Mo Williams.
The x-factor is Beasley. The question is whether or not he can be a legit second-all star to this team. I'm not sure if that will be even enough for them to win a title. The Cavs actually have a really strong team. They matched up badly against Orlando, but if you look at how they dismantled the Hawks (the team that beat the Heat..), then I think you will have to admit that they will at least be better than Miami for one more year.

Pierce says he's the best
njjayhawk, Lebron is anything but a "ballhog," and he really is a team player. If the 8 assists per game aren't enough of an indication, then you should watch some of his games. He's a play-maker who sometimes gets criticized for not shooting enough.

'Hawks in the NBA: Live on Draft Day 2008
"Celtics got the two worst character guys in the draft."Technically, CJ Giles was in the draft but no one took him.

Teacher defends allegations; Arthur 'frustrated'
"Ashmore alleged that Arthur benefited from improper grade changing multiple times in math classes throughout high school. "I've seen this before. This is almost like the plot of the movie Billy Madison. I say that Arthur should just go back to school for a few weeks, starting with first grade. If that doesn't work out, then they can just finish with an academic decathlon.

Gary Bedore's KU basketball notebook
Some late-first round teams are actually ideal to go to in the draft. A lot of those teams are good NOW but they may be on the brink of a rebuild. Simien was actually drafted onto the perfect team, considering that the Heat ended up playing a bunch of D-League players this year. His problem was that he couldn't stay healthy. It's a shame, but I still think he was lucky to land on a veteran team like the Heat. Now, if you land on a team like New Orleans it might be a bit more difficult. Julian Wright entered that team at the right time, but I think it'd be hard to see any playing time as a late first-round pick on that team (and Julian Wright, who was a lottery pick for that team has only just now been able to really crack the lineup). They are young but they basically have their team set for the next few years.

Rush, Arthur declare for 2008 NBA Draft
jayhawkinatl, do you actually watch the NBA? I used to think the same thing before I started actually watching games. There are plenty of players like Kyle Korver (an alum from my school) who play in the NBA who don't exactly play "street ball." Also, the "they don't call traveling" thing is way overstated. I think I see travels go uncalled in the NBA about as often as I see travels uncalled in the NCAA (and I think we can agree that refs miss travel calls on occasion in the NCAA). Personally, I think it's a great thing that the Jayhawks are so well represented in the NBA, especially with Billy Thomas signing onto a one year contract with the Cavs recently.

Rush, Arthur declare for 2008 NBA Draft
jcsmith, Arthur and Rush will not get to play much during the actual NBA games, but I am sure that they will get to enjoy basketball in some form. They get to watch the best players in the world during the times that they don't get to play. And, in practice (and eventually if they work hard enough to make it, in real games), they get to play with the best players in the world. (Practice? I'm talking about practice?) It is probably not as much "fun" as college basketball for them, unless of course they get regular minutes in the NBA. But it is not a total sacrifice. Frankly, it is probably worth the money. I think you can have a genuine love for the game AND still decide to enter the NBA early knowing that you will sit on the bench for the first couple of years.Plus, they won't have to go to class and do homework any more which means they can completely focus on basketball all of the time. Maybe I am cynical, but some how I doubt that very many NBA prospects really enjoy having to go to class and take tests to continue playing.

Cavs send Gooden to Bulls
Also of note...
Because the trade left the Cavs so short-handed for tonight's game, they went ahead and signed Billy Thomas from the D-League. Who would have thought that another Jayhawk would be involved with this trade?
