Stay or go? Wait and see

Excuse me? This APD fella keeps saying that at different places. NC lost by what 12 or 14 points. I don't think that gets them past the Elite Eight. I wonder if this guy is really a fan or just another dunce who hates Bill Self for some unknown reason.

Listening to the players, Brandon is the only one who sounds like he could not be back next. He could use another year at the collegiate level. And it would be great for KU if he did.

Whatever he does, it is either welcome back or good luck in his future. Whatever he decides is fine.

Commentary: Rush, Afflalo should cash in soon

APD,

NC just got trounced by 12 or 14 points. Roy didn't get to the final 4 this year. I guess that means he isn't going to win the NC 2 out of the last 4 years. I am a realist. You are wrong. And if you can't get that right, what else can anybody expect you to get right?

Self is an excellent recruiter & an excellent coach.

About Rush & Afflalo. Afflalo is a class ahead of Rush. He has had an extra year to be better than Rush. Another year at the college level wouldn't hurt Rush.

About Rush. You only get to play college basketball once in your life. You only get so many chances to win a NC. He wanted to come back and be with his team last year. There is a possibility he could come to the same conclusion for next year. They would have more chance to win the NC next year than they did this year.

Whatever his decision, I give him thanks for what he's done for KU and wish him well.

Jay Bilas' take on San Jose (Spodcasters)

He gave an interesting perspective on KUvsSIU and on mid-majors. With the mid-majors, he questioned how SIU would do in the Big 12 and said he felt KU would play very well in their conference. That says a lot. Also, that mid-majors is not a dirty word, but they have fewer resources than KU. That is insightful.

It sounds like he thinks KU will probably win, but could lose the game. Which by itself bears true. Any good college team can beat any other good college team any night of the week. Victories are not given, they are earned.

Which

Love and basketball

It will be nice when KU emerges victorious in this 1st game. That will bring all that tripe to an end. And then everybody can look ahead to the next game.

'WE ARE FIGHTERS'

There were seven players on this team who the media recorded messages from. All seven were posted so we could listen to each one of them. And each one was of prime importance in the win over Texas. Another player who didn't get hurt, but was important to the victory didn't get interviewed. And without another player getting hurt, there could have been nine players messages posted.

How many teams in America have that many important, talented players who contributed to the victory that they need to interview every one of them? It speaks very well to the depth and 'Family' of this team.

Yes, they do seem to have found their pass/shoot balance. Last year while they were getting thrashed in Hawaii I said KU would become a team no other team in America wants to have to play. It looks like they have arrived. :-)

KU's Self always showed promise

Yep, KU is the 4th college team that have gotten better after he became their coach. That is a lot of success. Especially including KU in that list.

Team unity paying off for Jayhawks

It has not looked like the Seed Committee has paid any attention to the Big 12 Championship. It is a little hard to get too concerned over how it turns out, besides playing well to maintain a positive frame of mind. Also, if they're playing well, they'll be in contention to win.

It is hard getting in a dither over a team we don't even know for sure we'll be playing. Besides, the best team won that game. And if we play them again, I'd expect the best team to win again.

Carmello Anthony blithered over how his play won Syracuse the NC. I always thought KU's sloppy FT shooting lost the game. Nick Collison kept looking over to the bench like he knew something was wrong and he had no idea how to fix it.

FT shooting has been a problem for the same team under different coaches. Can it be a mental thing that stays with a team? Or can two excellent coaches both have the same weakness of not teaching good FT shooting?

Chalmers can step up there and win a game at the FT line. But after him, it drops off in a big hurry.

That they play for each other, none are greedy, and that a team with such high talent levels can play together as 'Family' is very important to the success of this team. Yes, this is the second year in a row it has shown up. And yes, that is a sign of what an excellent coach Bill Self is. Always 'positively stroking everybody' has positive results.

Self talked about cutting down two more nets. He wants it all too. :-)

Jayhawks guaranteed share of Big 12 title

Some fans are mighty indeed. If BS would just pay more attention to them, everything would be ok. Bill Self is an excellent coach and an excellent recruiter. His team has only four losses and is ranked 3rd in the Nation. Is there anything that would make you happy?

I respect Acie Law IV. He is an excellent player and will be playing at the next level. I got to watch him play OU in Norman. He's the biggest treat to remember from that game. He took the 2nd half over right from the start of the half. It was great to watch.

No, you might slow Durant down, you won't stop him. Like Acie, he is too good to stop. KU will need to outscore him and Augustine. And KU can. I expect KU to win on Saturday. I'll be rooting for them!!!

The Keegan Ratings: Julian's 'closer' approach a success

Considering three top players had poor nights all in the same game, a victory is sweet. Even with an excellent team having an off night, and playing far below what they are, they won. Wright, Chalmers, and Kaun came through. Their play offset the difficulties the other three had.

And how many times in this season have three KU players had an off night the same night? And how often has the team played that poorly? And most important, they came through and won. It goes in the 'W' column.

Bill Self's Feb. 24 postgame press conference (Press Conferences & Post-Game Interviews)

Bill Self is a gracious man. Florida is not playing like a #1 seed team. KU is.
