KU’s 10 biggest stars

"Only athletes who are enrolled in school can be considered teammates and only teammates are eligible for this list:"

Oh look, Keegan managed to turn this into an anti-Xavier article. What a surprise. Xavier is enrolled in classes for the upcoming fall already, and you didn't specify current term. I'm also quite sure everyone on the team (and HCBS) would consider him a teammate.

Henrys stick with KU

Really, you message board posters think you're that damned important? I eat sleep and breathe KU basketball, but guess what, it's PEOPLE that make KU great. These kids dream of playing at the highest level, work their tails off to do so, and know that the league is the destination they hope to reach. KU basketball is bigger than any one person, but at the same time it takes great people with a desire to be even greater to create something this special, and the Henry's have chosen to be a part of it. How can you blame an 18 year old kid for wanting to spend one last summer at home with his friends, living with his older brother who he obviously idolizes, but still busts his butt to be ready for the season? Sure, a bunch of message board posters know that it would be best for the team if the Henry's were in town, but would it be best for Xavier? Not best for Xavier the recruit, but best for Xavier the human being? We don't get to decide that.

Good luck, CJ and Xavier. It seems to me talking to your fellow McD's All-Americans might have you wishing you could be a part of the hype they're buying into. It's understandable, but let me promise you, as soon as you get through Boot Camp with your teammates, you'll never look back. Kentucky will be exciting, but Kansas will be something special in a way you can't yet imagine. I'm glad you guys are going to remain a part of it. Rock Chalk!

Self comments on Henry situation

Xavier has signed a financial aid agreement at KU, but that doesn't stop him from jumping ship. With no LOI, Lance could do the same thing if he were so inclined.

KU quarterback Todd Reesing (Press Conferences & Post-Game Interviews)

Not a bad point, but I don't think we'll have anything to worry about. Those are the kinds of issues you have when coaches have a "my way or it's wrong" mentality. Coach Mangino and his staff have certainly shown they have a mentality that screams "do the most with what you have". I'm sure Kerry will be back and better than ever.

Did the BCS get it right?

It seems logical to me that this tie breaker system was setup to increase the chances of a Big XII team getting to the NC game. Imagine a scenario where OU is ranked number two, and texas is ranked number five or six. Even with a win over a north team, texas might not make it into the top two in that scenario. Dollar signs, for every school in the big twelve, dictate that we give our conference the best possible chance to play for a national championship. In a year like this, that's a non issue because EITHER team could play for a national championship. But you can't anticipate that as the only possible scenario when deciding ahead of time how these ties will be broken.Until the BCS is changed, this tie breaker is in the best interests of the conference. Maybe not ideal in every scenario, but that's the BCS's fault.

KU using music to drown out chant

You're right. You result to personal attacks(and misspell them at that) and insults, but I'm the dumb and immature one because I've been known to say a word you don't like. Thru? Really? As far as tuition, I'm well aware that my personal tuition does little to nothing, but what do you think this institution would be with about 30,000 less students? So about the professors, GTA's and lecturers on this campus that use the word in classes? Because over the last year, I've heard at least one of each of those do exactly that. Are they too such imbeciles (misspelling that word is hysterical by the way) that they don't deserve to carry the university's name? Or are they just people who aren't stuck in the nineteen sixties, and know that EVERY piece of language has it's place. The truth is, the word has exactly as much power as you give it. It's just a word. Why are you so offended by it?"Although Mangino and Athletics Department officials wish the chant would stop, some Kansas players say they like it.Sophomore defensive tackle Jamal Greene said that he loved the chant and that his grandmother yelled it louder than some of the students. Senior linebacker Joe Mortensen said he didn't think it was that offensive."It's nothing new to me," Mortensen said. "I'm a Raiders fan. I'm from Oakland, California. That's a little PG. I've heard more than that."Mortensen said when he takes the field, he hoped to achieve what the chant said."When I try to hit people," Mortensen said, "that's what I try to do."" - the UDKI had an older man, probably well into his sixties, at the tech game sitting behind me in the student section. He loved the chant. He yelled it louder than any students sitting in my area, that's for sure. Honestly, I believe this is a case of the vocal minority. Most people don't give a f***.

KU using music to drown out chant

http://www.npr.org/templates/player/m... while apparently I'm nothing but a stupid college student that pays tuition so that all you holier than thou alumni have a place to come back to, I found this to be an interesting NPR story yesterday.Ultimately, get over yourselves. It's a word. It's not a news worthy situation. No one actually thinks students at the University of Kansas are the only people who use this word. "Clearly the only people who are really being upset by this are people who are worried that the government is going to crack down on them, not people who are upset because the word itself was used." - Jesse Scheidlowe, Editor at Large for The Oxford English Dictionary
