KU to meet Texas Tech at 2:30 on ABC

Anyone know if the KU-OU game will be on ESPN or ESPN2 in non-Big 12 territories? Being in Big 10 country, the Big 10 match up will be on local ABC stations, but sometimes ESPN throws a bone and moves one of their other bigger 2:30 games to ESPN or The Duce (e.g., the NU-Tech game this past weekend). Local media doesn't have it posted yet.

KU baseball falls to Coastal Carolina, 11-3

Well drats. ESU lost (2-1 to Lynn) but KU got the W (16-0).

JC, I had a talk with the Univ of Illinois folks about a KU-UI baseball game (figured it won't happen in hoops or football unless it is the post-season), and they told me that a match up between the two schools couldn't take place because of travel restrictions (schools too far). I now wonder if that was a smoke screen because KU played Chicago St during an mid-week series. But if their statement was true, how many quality teams are close to Lawrence? WSU, Creighton, a few directional schools in Missouri, Iowa(?), and Tulsa.

Anyone else realize there is another Kansas ball team playing in NC? Emporia State is playing for the DII championship. I know it's not ESUsports.com, but I have to give props to my other alma mater. Go 'Hawks and Go Hornets! Wish I was in NC.

KU football fans to pay more for pregame fun

$20 is common. Univ of Illinois was ~$2 before the Bears came to town (2003'ish). But after university officials realized that fans would pay $20 to see the Bears play in Champaign, they jacked up the Illini parking to $20 in a three year period... and that is $20 campus wide (some spots are further than AFH-Memorial)... that is just for a car... RV's are $60. I think I paid $20 to see an Ohio St game in 2004.

Tale of two tournament shots

JJHawk, some Illinois fans look at it that way. However, the thing that bothers most Illini fans are how Self left (essentially under the cover of darkness similar to most transferring coaches) and how he keeps "stealing" Illinois players, such as Wright and Collins (but why wouldn't they want to play at KU?). Some Illini fans don't think Illinois could have reach the title game against UNC in '05 if Self was coaching because they don't think he is much of an X&Os kind of guy (they think of Webber has an X&O's coach but not the recruiter Self is). Nevertheless, Illini fans aren't surprised that Self has a title to his name and are happy that he has one. It is similar to the Williams situation at KU: now that time has passed (and we have a national title), we remember Williams for the great coach he was and the great things he did while in Lawrence.

Brace doesn't irk Rush

I attended the Miami (OH) game last night against Illinois. Assembly Hall was about 14,000 with the majority of the Orange Crush missing. It was a quiet venue all night, especially after Miami won. I don't anticipate a quiet Allen. KU fans are a little more rambunctious, even with the students gone. However, don't underestimate this Miami team. They have beat some soild teams and have some guys that can score. It should be a good one tomorrow... wish I could watch it. Rock Chalf Jayhawk!

You should have gone to Univ of Illinois games when Dee Brown was here... "Deeeeeeee for threeeeee." Good grief. It got old. The same guy does some stupid antics during the football games. I love the way Max had the "fishing buddy" style of covering games. It was classy. No one does it today and that's what made Max special. Come on... this is KU basketball... do we really need an announcer to fire up us? No! That is what the team is doing.
