Kansas carrying on

NebraskaJayhawk I must disagree. While the Jayhawks first three opponents were not probable bowl teams, at least UTEP and Duke are competitive Division 1 teams. Southern Miss IS a probable bowl team and should be a solid test for the Hawks before the conference season begins.

I have to say that based on the games we've witnessed so far, would you say Nebraska has more or less offensive concerns that Kansas? I would say immensely more concern is in the house of the Cornhuskers. Defensively Kansas has shown a lot more possibility than Nebraska has shown Offensively. Virginia Tech is probably going to have its bell rung by Miami next weekend. Then, what will your projections be concerning the Nebraska offense. I see that FSU scored 54 on a BYU team (in Provo) that Oklahoma could only manage 13 points against. If you want to discuss inconsistency, how about that? Texas has not been particularly impressive against its "lowly" non conference foes but I don't hear anyone counting them out of the Big 12 race. Missouri has had its moments (last week) where you wondered if they were in serious trouble. Oklahoma State losing at home to Houston? How about USC getting beaten by a Washington team that is 2-12 over the last two years coming off the longest losing streak in the country?

I don't care if the Jayhawks have played "little sisters of the poor", they have CONTROLLED their opponents. They have averaged over 500 yards per game, 40 points per game, and seem to be as effective on the ground and through the air. They have NOT stumbled on their lesser opponents. EVERY coach who has played them, including Price (former Alabama head man) and Cutcliffe (who has an extensive Division one history) have praised their preparation and play. Defensively, they are making incredible strides.

Every school has to question where they are after playing non top 25 teams, but given Kansas had a schedule to play, they have played it well. Better than well. There has never been a doubt about their superiority. I personally feel as good about this team as I could possibly feel at this point in the season. I cannot imagine what you must want to see to be convinced that they are real.

As to Nebraska being superior, I don't know what game you were watching yesterday, but the Nebraska team I watched was not overwhelming. I think we will kick their butts. This time, I hope Coach doesn't stop at 76.

Self.... Bad game coach?

StupidMichael, I agree with all of your comments. Truejayhawk is truly lacking in knowledge. I think Coach Self is the perfect match for Kansas and hope he stays till he retires. Some of these "fans" need to coach a game or two so they could realize just how out of touch they are. There are reasons why quality coaches end up at schools like Kansas; they know what they are doing. Obviously, Truejayhawk needs to keep his day job. He won't be coaching at Kansas any time soon, thank goodness. By the way, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Jayhawks everywhere!

Markieff Morris accepts diversion agreement

Cute. However, evolution and the big bang aren't theories without scientific support. Creationism isn't even to the point of theory. I have no problem with our schools teaching many sides of any argument, I simply find it absurd to present points of view with no foundation whatsoever. It opens the door for all kinds of personal ideas, feelings and beliefs that have no business being taught in our schools along side science. If you want to take science and align your religious beliefs, fine, but I will teach my children at home regarding religion, it has no place in our schools. If you disagree, then, I will be interested in hearing how you feel about Hindu, Budism, Zen, Islam, atheism, etc. being taught as well. As I understand, each have their own understanding as to how this whole existence began.By the way, I don't believe much of anything is a "no-brainer". I do believe that calling someone a "moron" or "silly" or a "dummy" because they are offended by someone shooting a pistol at another human being is stupid, silly and dumb. I think athletes represent our school in an especially visible way. Thus, it is imperative that even minor misdeeds should have significant consequence. I hope the young man has learned a valuable lesson and that he is a better person for it. The punishment seems appropriate. The hoopla seems appropriate. Your criticism, on the other hand, seemed a bit much. Maybe even . . . . arrogant.

wow, jchief40, you are a trip. I suppose you think intelliegent design should replace evolution in the classrooms as well. Unbelievable. Shooting anything at any human being is absolutely, without question, an incredibly stupid act. That you are trying to defend it truly makes YOU the dummy. Brain up, dummy.

Which of these five KU big men was your favorite to watch?

The Best Kansas Big Men:1. Wilt Chamberlin2. Danny Manning3. Clyde Lovelette4. David Robisch5. Walt Wesley6. Nick Collison7. Bill Bridges8. Raef LaFrentz9. Wayne Simien10. Scott PollardAll except Wayne had successful NBA careers. I think Wayne would have had a successful NBA career had he been healthy. I'll bet most schools can't touch this list! The perimeter guys aren't bad:1. Jo Jo White2. Paul Pierce3. Jacque Vaughn4. Bud Stallworth5. Kirk Hinrich6. Darnell Valentine7. Rex Walters8. Ron Kellog (if this guy had the three point rule he would have ruled!)9. Brandon Rush10. Mario ChalmersI wish I knew more about the pre 57 groups, but, alas, I am too young. I only know you can't leave Lovelette out of any great Kansas basketballer list. Not a bad group though!

KU, MU reach agreement to continue Border War at Arrowhead through 2012

Hawkish4bigM -Please educate us on KU history. Just how did Lawrence "capitulate" during the civil war? I think you misspoke your history lesson. And, please tell, how in God's name does any of the civil war history have any thing to do with this conversation. You are the first supposed KU fan to "capitulate" anything. I suspect your motive. Are you no more than a wolf in sheep's clothing? Or just another dumass Mizzou fan that needs a whupping? We'll see over the next few years who has "capitulated". If we're lucky it will be YOU!

Tradition in Memorial Stadium??????????????????Please. When you set an all time record for home attendance during a 12-1 season at 5,000 under capacity, I have one heck of a time calling THAT tradition. Yes, I was there for the '98 KSU game and for ALL of those God forsaken Nebraska games where the KSU and Nebraska fans outnumbered us in our own damn stadium. Arrowhead can't possibly be worse than that. The day we have an 80,000 seat stadium on campus in Lawrence will be the same year you same bunch of cry babies bitch about parking and driving in Lawrence.Think about it, we are having a cow as fans and the Jayhawks are heading for their 3rd bowl game in 4 years. Have qualified for a bowl 4 years in a row and are coming off the greatest sports year in Kansas history. And we are bashing the AD. You guys are fricking unbelievable. And you wonder why Roy Williams wanted to leave? Maybe you cry babies would like Terry Allen and Bohl back. This isn't Columbus, Ohio or even Lincoln, Nebraska. Get real guys, we need to do whatever it takes to be competitive. If you want to bitch about GREED open your eyes and look at Wall Street. The reality is Lew Perkins didn't create the rules, YOU DID! Yes, many of us were in the stands for those lop sided losses, but one heck of lot more WERE NOT! Kansas football IS what it IS and to be competitive we have to be creative and imaginative. For my money, I am one heck of a lot happier, even this year with a 6-6 football team headed to a bowl and a freshman dominated basketball team that plays its heart out. I remember 1982-84. I remember football in MOST years. It is nice to have a stadium of blue instead of red for the Nebraska game and to have a chance of beating them every year. If that means suffering through traffic one game a year to help out, so be it. I've been to a few games in 80,000 to 105,000 seat stadiums and it is just a function of the number of people. Traffic sucks in Lincoln for every home game. Same with most successful football programs.Come on, this whole conversation makes us sound like a bunch of cry baby, dummies. Yes, its GREED, but it isn't greed created by Lew Perkins or anyone else in the athletic program. It is a function of the way things are. Its 2008, not 1998. This is the way it is. Get on board and quit being cry babies!

I'll bet if we would go back to the days of Ted Owens and Terry Allen, you "die hard" Jayhawk fans would be the only ones in the stands to watch our Jayhawks lose 69-7 to Nebraska again for the 30th year in a row. Fortunately, (or unfortunately for you "rapid" Jayhawk fans who probably don't contribute a dime) Lew Perkins is taking Kansas into the 21st century as a winner. You want the game in Lawrence, then try attending games when the team is 2-10. The Mizzou game hadn't been a sell out in years. The football team wasn't worth crap. Now we are winning, people are going to the games, we are on television regularly and our program is no longer the laughing stock of division 1. Lew Perkins is the best thing that has ever happened to Kansas University athletics. Unfortunately, he has to try and work with self centered, ignorant people like you folks who talk big, don't contribute and bitch like champions. Wake up, being competitive is fun. Its too bad that division 1 athletics has turned into a business, but it has. If you don't like it, Washburn is just down the road. They have a nice division II program in football and basketball, they play all their games at home (don't think of going to Pittsburg State for God's sake, they play their biggest rivalry game at Arrowhead as well) and they have great seats available. There are lots of places to go and not spend money, but if you want to be a division 1 fan with any chance of winning, you're going to have to deal with what makes money. KU-MU at Arrowhead makes sense. Money wise and recruiting kids who want to play big time football. We are lucky to have Lew Perkins. There is a reason he is one of the most respected ADs in the business. And believe me, college sports IS a business! Accept it or find a new division II or III team to support. But what ever you do, STOP bitching, you sound like a bunch of cry babies.
