KU's Wiggins named Big 12 freshman of the year, Embiid named defensive player of the year

If KU gets to 10 losses, then it can't win the National Championship. KU currently has 8 losses. If it loses in the Big XII tournament, it gets to 9. If it wins the NC, it will still be at 9. If it then loses in the NCAA, it will get to 10, but of course, no NC. If it wins the Big XII tournament, then it stays at 8, and can't get to 10 either way. In other words, it's either NC or 10 loses, it can't be both.

And, yes, there is room for criticism of Naadir, but without some of his bigger games, there could be 2, 3 or more losses. It's a team game, with team wins and team losses. It's a rare game that one player is responsible for losing alone.

It's $2.625 million over 3 years. Not per year for three years.

Coaching Search 2011: Day 10, 4:16 p.m. - More on June Jones, Auburn and Wisconsin OC Paul Chryst; Plus, is Zenger now targeting NFL guys?

What was Mangino's record his last year? How long was the losing streak? Some might say that Gill got screwed by what Mangino built here as well. Look, he had the great year, but we have no idea if he could have sustained that success long term (especially since he didn't really for another coupl years). We'll never know, but it's time to move on.

Coaching Search 2011: Day 9, 8:38 p.m. - Report: Fedora accepts North Carolina job; Where does Kansas go from here and how quickly?

You all keep assuming that all he has to do is offer. There are a lot of jobs out there that a coach may (likely) consider to be better than stepping into the mess here - especially after the way the last two coaching tenures have ended and given the instability in the Big XII, etc. I have no real opinion on SZ, and might not until the hire is made or longer, but it's pretty unfair to assume he's not doing anything, as opposed to having trouble finding the right guy who will accept.

What's next for KU football: Coaching candidates

Outside of Kansas the Orange Bowl year was a scheduling fluke (and likely a result of that hated AD's connections more than merit). No short memory, just question its value in this coaching search. What big name coaches do we think were interested before the last two years? You think AD alone will change that? Besides facilities, something a lot of schools can claim, what makes KU in 2011 terribly attractive? Add Big XII issues and there are a lot of schools ahead of KU on the coaching vacancy list.

Turner Gill out as KU football coach

Some of you will get caught in this crossfire, but what a bunch of classless fans showing up here. A fan base like this, exemplified by attendance at games, is the reason getting a top flight coach is almost impossible and the program will always struggle. Gill may have needed to go, but the reaction here is a joke. KU fb will likely get what it deserves. Hopefully that's better than I'm seeing here.
