Kansas forward Mitch Lightfoot plans to redshirt 2019-20 season

This makes sense. Presuming health of the other three, the minutes arent going to be there.
And he's not going pro (or NBA pro anyway), why not enjoy more time as a Jayhawk?

Remember Relaford and Lucas did this as well.

Im sure he'll end up a key player next year.

With emphasis on RPO, QB Carter Stanley feeling like a PG

After 10 years of happy talk and a dreadful team, I'll believe it when I see it.

How many OCs have we burned through in the last 10 years?

Conceptually, I like the idea that Miles is building something. I certainly feel better about HIS ability to do that as opposed to most of the previous coaches since Mangino.

But until we see true progress on the field, it's hard to get to charged up about it.

Apologetic Khalil Herbert: 'I intended to come back' to play for KU in 2020

I don't care what folks think, but it APPEARS to be poor form on Khalil's part. There's probably stuff we don't know going on the inside, which is probably what led to all decisions.

What I wonder about, is did he think Coach Miles would want this? For him to bail on this season, then come back next season? That's what we don't know. Or did the coaches push him to redshirt, come back, and then he says forget this, Im leaving? There's not enough info from inside the program to know this at this point.

That said, this happens ALL the time in college football. We just don't hear about it because it's usually not KU. My guess is he thought about saving another year of eligibility for elsewhere, and Miles said "fine, go." If that's true, it's hard to see where would be a better opportunity to play than here.

I am confident Miles didn't run him off. This team isn't good enough to run off good players.

KU officials confirm they have received notice of NCAA violations; will 'fiercely dispute' charges

What's odd is that all of the items KU is getting dinged for now is already out there, and has been for awhile now. Im sure there is more information not out there yet, but I'd be curious as to how much.

I agree with the previous poster that the stuff with DeSouza seems like it was already dealt with -- they shortened his 2 year ban essentially to time served with last year -- is there more coming here?

I do believe the Billy Preston thing is probably where a lot of the issue is. Nothing will ever make me think that Self, or someone one Self's staff was NOT aware of the car issue. Sorry, it's just to convenient. Im not saying they're the ones directly responsible. But im comfortable they know who is. And most things with this (and the DeSouza) that have come out from KU about this stuff is lawyer speak.

I'd argue the lack of institutional control will end up costing us post season at some point. This year, next, who knows.

Unless KU, Self, and the NCAA are all on the same page when all of this is done, I see there being a good chance Self will be gone. Maybe not immediately. But if these things crack into bigger things, I see it as almost unavoidable. Disappointing to say the least. He and his coaches can't claim ignorance.

The good, the bad and the ugly of KU basketball's 2019-20 schedule

I do hope KU raises issues with 10 games being on ESPN+ as opposed to ESPN's TV networks.
I understand it to some degree with the lesser home non-conference opponents.

But 2 WVU games, ISU and TCU as streaming games? Especially at Ames not on TV? Sorry that's insane. KU games always get ratings for ESPN, so there's no way they can use that excuse.

Do you know any specifics of how this deal with Big 12 Now/ESPN+ is set up Matt? It just seems like we're getting less product for more money. And then having to pay extra to stream it.
Which I do by the way, but it seems like KU is kinda getting screwed with that.

KU basketball's Big 12 schedule features 4 Big Monday dates, opens Jan. 4 vs. West Virginia

ESPN+ is a paid streaming service. It's 4.99 per month, and you can just do it monthly.

If you have a streaming stick/device/Smart TV you shouldn't have trouble streaming it.

I probably watch at least 2-3 games a week with it, and that's not counting Jayhawks stuff.

I was able to watch the Coastal Carolina debacle on it.

Get it for 2 months and watch those games and you can cancel. In the scheme of things makes it pretty easy to do so.

All that said, I think it's insane -- "way to go Big 12" -- to not have all the conference games broadcast on ESPN. Even if its on ESPNU or something. I get it for the lower quality home games though.

Jayhawks’ beat down of Boston College a real attention grabber

At least we didn't look impotent last night. Im convinced the pain from gacking up the Costal Carolina game motivated them to go all out last night. It appeared that worked well.

Who knows what the rest of the season may bring. Beating WVU next weekend would certainly turn a lot of heads. Not just in Lawrence, but around the college football world.

KU's offense comes alive to soar past Boston College for 48-24 win

I'll be chaffed -- not nearly as much as the team -- if we end up 5-7 after that game last week. 3-0 at this point and being bowl eligible isn't so insane. Going 4-5 in conference seems unlikely though.

Progress is good though.

Puzzling 4th down decisions doom Jayhawks in loss to Chanticleers

While it seems confusing -- TO, TO, TO -- it's really not.

Coach Miles does not have faith in his QB to make a play. Problem is, will he have more faith in his back up? Im not sure.

The reality is this team is talent deficient -- which we've been for years now -- and it's not going to change overnight.

Les Miles is going to be here until his contract is up, win or lose. Let's just hope we get some winning in.

Quick recap: KU suffers 12-7 loss to Coastal Carolina

We're just talent deficient to the hilt. Yes, all the timeouts looked bad. But what shocked me about it was that we just didnt kick a FG.

Which tells you he has no confidence in our kickers. And the jumbled timeouts tells me he's just not sure who's going to be able to make a play.

I'd let the other kid play QB next week. What do we have to lose?
