Cleveland The Cavaliers' pursuit of a point guard has heated up again.
According to multiple league executives, the Cavs and Sacramento Kings have restarted talks to bring Mike Bibby to Cleveland.
The Kings, looking to add more scoring to their front line, have been interested in former Kansas University forward Drew Gooden. According to a source, Damon Jones also might have been included in the potential deal.
Bibby, who has two years and $28 million left on his contract, averaged 17.1 points and 4.7 assists for the Kings last season. He has an opt-out clause after this season, in which he will make $13.5 million.
Without salary-cap room and with the market being a little bare for point guards, the Cavs actively have been pursuing trades to pick up a playmaker.

I would not take that trade at all. Bibby is old and not that good anymore. The Cavs were pretty darn good without an experienced veteran PG this season. Daniel Gibson made some noise late in the season and the playoffs. Let him run the show a bit. He is young and way more of an up side and alot cheaper too. Save your $$ Cleveland and don't waste it on an old PG who can opt out of his contract after next year anyway. Keep some young talent and try building around that.

Daniel Gibson is not an NBA point guard.

14 million for Mike Bibby?! This is why the NBA sucks.

How much would Gooden get for his hair-smudge on the back of his head? I think that should be factored into the trade.

Kunomu, do you hate MLB too? I think Bibby earned that contract after repeatedly taking Sacramento deep into the playoffs. Then, the team fell apart. Not Bibby's fault. The guy is only 29 and could definitely help out the Cavs. Varejo can't score, but he wouldn't be counted on for points, more so his energy and rebounding. It'd be a perfect trade for the Cavaliers.

Pollard was a King. The Kings used to be in KC. KC is a bedroom community for all that is decent and holy in Jayhawk nation.
The 'purple' thing/issue... that's a tough one.
I'd almost rather see a Jayhawk in purple before I'd want them on a team that also sports Ron Artest. That just screams bad karma.

tippy, you must have missed the playoffs last June. Gibson was the second best player on the Cavs (next to Mr. King himself, of course) after Hughes went down and he saw extended PT.

tdub, did you see his assist numbers for the playoffs? One assist per game is not what you want from a point guard even if he is more of a scoring guard.

Gibson will continue to develop, but he's not ready to run the offense. They need a good point guard now. I mean, I know it's a young team and their star is even one of the youngest, but they were in the finals last year. It's time to try to find that guy who can take them to the next level. When you're in the finals and return all of your players, it's time to think about next year instead of the long-term.
