Do I need 2 points or do I need 3 points?

Regardless, Tharpe will touch the ball on the final possession. His job is to make sure that KU gets the points on the board. If we need a 3, then I give Tharpe the ball and run a series of ball screens going left and back to the right. If we need 2 points, then I set up a play for whomever has the hot hand out of Wiggins, Ellis, and Embiid. The play, as is typical, will have multiple options in case the defense successfully negates the #1 option.

Selden is the biggest gamer on the team, has a pretty sweet stroke, and can take it to the rim if there is daylight. He isn't proven, but I think if you put everyone on the team through 100 various game winning scenarios each, he would be at or near the top on converting.

Selden also would be the unexpected choice, which might mean he's the easiest to get open. Joel setting a screen and then rolling for a lob/dunk could be the surest two ptr.

To those who voted for Perry Ellis: when has he shown the ability to perform under pressure? He is a great player with great ability, but he is a thinker, not a do'er. That does not translate to making crunch-time plays.

I cannot fathom a time on this team where we have the ball over half court down 1 with 10 or so seconds left and Self says "Okay Perry, go get us 2."

He would be there for the offensive put-back, but he would not be the one creating the last shot attempt.

Down two under 10 seconds, Self ran a pick and pop with Perry driving for a layup to tie the game with three seconds left against Colorado this year.

You are 100% correct and I eat crow on your behalf (that was a great play by the way, having Wiggins pull the defensive attention as he jogged across the key). How quickly I forgot how steady Ellis was for us at the start of the season. His recent play has just been so unassertive that it is easy to dismiss him from a game winner/tie attempt discussion.
