I see losses @ KSU,@ Baylor and @ Missouri. losses to UT, TAMU and KSU @ home are possibilities but remote.

4 losses..I'm sure we will lose 1 that we should have won and 3 tough ones. Probably the 3 oljhwk listed but we win/tie reg season conference title.

mispay4ku 9 years, 1 month ago

I went with 2---@Baylor and @KSU, possibly. I refuse to allow myself to think we will lose to "Mizzery". I may be really disappointed but I just can't take myself there.

I think some people are either underestimating the strength of some teams in the big 12 that we have walked all over in the past, or overestimating how good we really are. I think the big 12 is tougher acroos the board than it has been the last 2 years, and I don't think we are as good going into conference play as we have been the last 2 years. JMO Rock Chalk!

I think we lose @ Baylor and @ Mizzou. Maybe 1 more upset tossed in there but I still think 14-2.

I love the votes for 9-7 or worse. I have to believe none of these people can be serious can they?

ralster I agree. We have the best team in the country...we just need to be 100% motivated all the time. There is no execuse to lose to any of the teams unless they're shooting lights out beyond the arc.

Out of conference games can be tossups because there is a large amount of unfamiliarity. A good team with good players and a good coach should win a high percentage of games. This includes cupcakes (ie. Review Tennessee's record and scratch your head. They're good against good teams, but lose to mediocre teams.) Conference games are so demanding and competitive because every coach knows everyone else's positives and negatives. They've had the pre-conference games to evaluate the competition and have gained the knowledge to prepare their teams.

A team with good defensive capabilities can overcome superior offensive teams. As what happened at Michigan, on off nights defense can win games.Bill Self' has always stressed defense and when he has time to prepare, usually wins, even against teams loaded with five stars (ie. Texas).

Which means: The better prepared coach (and therefore, team) usually wins the most games. The losses are those aberrations that come along every so often, which frustrate coaches (and professional gamblers). A bad shooting night, injuries to key players, an average opponent shooting lights out or hitting a lucky shot at the buzzer, all of them work wonders for teams that are over matched but somehow pull out the upset win.

No matter what conditions apply, the team has to have faith in itself (and its shots) and the willpower to overcome adversity. One at a time. The drive to win. All good players have it inside themselves but many are unwilling to pay the price, to give 110%. It starts with each game and builds with each win. One at a time. Over confidence must be eliminated after each win because what is past is past. One at a time. Yes, one goal is to win the conference, but it entails 16 games. One at a time. To achieve the Holy Grail of college basketball, a national championship, a coach must constantly re-instill that drive in his/her players, to bring it out. Not just one at a time, but as a team.

So come on Jayhawks, your perfect pre-conference record doesn't mean a thing when it comes down to it. It won't get you into the tournament if you falter now. Don't think you've got any game won as of yet. Start this new conference season off with a win in your first conference game. One at a time. RCJH

KU will not lose to Kansas State..I dont care where it is. They may lose to Missouri and Baylor..they will lose two games somewhere

When Bobby Knight was coaching, he would always bring his team in ready to beat us. Good coaches find a way to get their team to win. The big twelve has a lot of really good coaches. KU will need to bring their best every game to keep winning. Good coaches look forward to beating the good teams, and believe me, they will all be gunning for KU.

I think they will drop a game they should win but that happens every year in a tough conference. I see them going to Baylor and K State and winning due to experience a just more mental toughness than those teams. Missouri and Texas will be good tough games.

Tuesday' game at Colorado now looks interesting.

meastland 9 years, 1 month ago

Now that the question of a loss at Baylor is moot and KSU is struggling, I think we'll lose two. We'll lose at MU and one more that will be a total fluke game.

iheartkansashoops 9 years, 1 month ago

I put we'd lose 1 and that was to Texas, but you never know I'd say 1 or two in Big 12 play.
