The website is running a little slow tonight... I wonder why. We'll miss you Sherron!

I've never witnessed a player that refuses to lose like Collins. I'll miss him.

How could anybody name 100 Jayhawks they liked more than Sherron? That's just ridiculous!

roshi12 4 years, 5 months ago

They have to wait 5 years, but it will be there! Refuse to lose, that sums him up alright. Thanks, Sherron!

Sheron - There is no way to tell you what you have meant to Kansas Basketball - and joy we have had watching you grow into a leader - whatever great things the future holds for you - I think the greatest lesson you will have learned is how to be a leader and to care for those you lead - you will always be beloved in Jayhawk land and always remember us

You will be missed and always loved in the Jayhawk nation, thanks for the memories. I can't wait to see you cut down the net in April!!! I will be crying again. ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!!!2010 NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPS-LEAD BY SHERRON COLLINS.

Thanks Sherron. I can't gush enough about what an absolute pleasure and an honor it has been to watch you play for the last 4 years. Your incredible talent is shadowed only by an attitude and effort that are nothing short of inspirational. You make me proud as hell to be a jayhawk. You will be missed for sure and always remembered.

One more thing...not that you haven't done enough already, but I do have a couple small requests: 1) Win another championship, and 2) See if you can work it out so you come out to L.A. to play for the Lakers.

Rock Chalk and thank you from the bottom of my mushy jayhawk heart.

Sherron - when you stole that inbounds pass at the end of the 2008 National Championship, and ended up making that 3 pointer, my heart about beat out of my chest. I knew that we were gonna have a real shot at winning that game, at that moment. You gave us that championship, Mario was just in the right place at the right time. Thank you for so many great, great memories! A loyal fan for life.

Sherron, Thank you for all the great memories. You are one of the greatest Jayhawks of all time. We always had a chance to win while you were playing. You were the only player tough enough to make it down the court and dish the ball for a open look without getting fouled. You stole that in-bounds pass and made a huge three. Without you we would have just been runner up in the national championship game. That is just one game of many that you willed us to a win. Good luck to you in life post college. I know you will be successful in whatever you do. We are going to miss you next year. Thank you again.

Nobody worked harder ALL the time. His great work ethic and non-stop hustle will be hard to be replaced. He's definitely one of my all time favorites. That "never say die" attitude put many a W in the win column. I wish him all the best and have the feeling he'll be doing good wherever he goes.

I say top 5 for sure - Wilt, Manning, Mario, Pierce and Sherron.

Who are the D-Bags that don't put Sherron in the top 100? That's got to be Memphis fans!

Without Sherron we don't win in '08...he was just as important as Mario.

Winning another NC this year will make him a Jayhawk legend bigger than all of them.

STL_JHAWK I would venture a guess that its ksu, misery, memphis, etc fans that troll our boards

my first comment goes to the ideal that Sherron will have his number hung in the rafters, that will not happen as he will not be claimed as an All American, he will not make 1st, 2nd or 3rd team, PG's ahead of him include John Wall, Kyle Sigler and Scottie Reynolds are all having far better seasons, and are better contributors to their teams. Sherron is a great player, but not an all american which will prohibit him from being in the rafters w/All American's like Nick Collison, Raef, Gooden, Pierce,... I wish him the best, but he is not among the best.

Become the MVP of the National Championship Game and that gets you in the rafters as well.

It shows you how good KU is, when someone of Sherron's caliber still has things to do in order to make the rafters. I hope he does, but understand the difficulty that it takes to get there.

Not only great job Sherron, but way to make every player on the court better!

dmb41fan--I agrre with what u have said. My top 10 players of all time, which doesn't include Collins are: 1. Danning Manning--What KU is all about 2. Jo Jo White- 3. Darnell Valentine 4. Paul Pierce 5. Nick Collinsion 6. Kirk Hinrich 7. Mario Chalbers 8. Jacque Vaughn 9. Raef Lafrenze 10. Drew Gooden

Collins is my top 20 and he is the heart and soul of this team. Saying that, Collins must improve starting with Mizzy, in the areas of shooting, assists, decision making, taking charges and leading this team at least to the Final Four. KU wins the National Championship this year, then I would put him in top 10--However, that will be a huge task.

Just for fun, my top 10: 1. Paul Pierce 2. Danny Manning 3. Sherron Collins 4. Nick Collison 5. Darnell Jackson 6. Jacque Vaughn 7. Kirk Hinrich 8. Wayne Simien 9. Russell Robinson 10. Wilt Chamberlain

Wow, it's really hard to do those rankings. Given that I'm only 21, almost all of these players are more recent. There's still some KU greats that I wish I could have seen but, obviously, never will . Lovellette, Wilt, Jo Jo, Stallworth, Valentine, Hightower, just to name a few. Thanks again for 4 very memorable years Sherron! There's only one way to make this last year the best!

Can only speak to 1980 onwards. My Favorite, not necessarily the best.

  1. Danny
  2. Hinrich - every time that era plays on ESPN Classic he amazes me.
  3. Pierce
  4. Mario
  5. Rush
  6. Miles
  7. Collison
  8. Lafrentz
  9. D-Block
  10. Calvin Thompson (Cally-oop)/Ron Kellogg - Inseparable in my mind. Wish the 3 point arc was around.....

Julian Wright would have been in my Top 5 if he would have stayed, but who knows what would have happened if he did. Also, loved watching Boschee.

Amazing! 70 people do not have him in their top 100. I wonder what schools they attended.

aerohawk 4 years, 5 months ago

I had him in my top 20. I am just partial to some other players, nothing against Sheron.

There are so many great names from KU, I can't make a list. But Cole and Sherron would rank high at the top. I was so upset about Sherron leaving that I forgot that Cole may be gone as well. Best of luck to them both! Rock Chalk!
